Trojan Horse
Luv' Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

you came in through the door - like the Trojan Horse
You came onto the floor - like the Trojan horse
You looked around and saw me, but your eyes remained the same
But soon you would show more - like the trojan horse

la,la,la...

come on, now
one - two - three, you're gonna dance with me
one - two - three - four - five,
you say i'll be your wife
you move a little fast, now wait a little while
if you want to last, you show a little style

the gates are not yet opened, zo the horse cannot come in.
when you tell a happy story,
the beginning you begin.
come on,now
one - two - three, you're gonne dance with me
one - two - three - four - five, you say i'll be your wife

you got to take your time - like the Trojan Horse
don't know what's on your mind - like the Trojan horse
you came, you saw, you conquered, but you move a little fast
you made your plan just fine - like the trojan horse

la,la,la...

come on, now
one - two - three, you're gonna dance with me
one - two - three - four - five,
you say i'll be your wife
you move a little fast, now wait a little while
if you want to last, you show a little style

the gates are not yet opened, zo the horse cannot come in.
when you tell a happy story,
the beginning you begin.
come on,now
one - two - three, you're gonne dance with me
one - two - three - four - five,
you say i'll be your wife

come on, now
one - two - three, you're gonna dance with me
one - two - three - four - five,
you say i'll be your wife

you move a little fast, now wait a little while
if you want to last, you show a little style

Overall Meaning

In "Trojan Horse" by Luv', the lyrics compare a romantic relationship to the story of the Trojan horse. Just like the Trojan horse was a deceitful way of invading Troy, the singer's partner came into her life and onto her dance floor like the Trojan horse. The partner's intentions are unclear, and their ability to charm (conquer) raises suspicion. The chorus emphasizes the importance of taking it slow and showing some style to make the relationship last, comparing this to the Trojan horse's strategy of waiting patiently to enter into the city of Troy. The mention of gates not yet opened suggests that the singer is guarding herself emotionally and not ready to fully commit to the partner without more thought and care. The song ultimately warns against falling for someone who might not have pure intentions and emphasizes patience and taking the necessary time to build a true, lasting relationship.

@eightiesboy

Brilliant. I heard this for the first time ever this morning (Brit from London) and am now playing it again to a nice glass of red. Absolutely love Netherlands. My favourite country in Europe, by a distance.

@joshuavanderzee1786

@Eightiesboy why do you think the Netherlands is such a great country?

@xXTheoLinuxXx

@@joshuavanderzee1786 our summer last 1 day longer (compared to england it is 100% win), for a non native English speaking country we aren't doing a bad job, the sense of humour.. the English are the best, and we have a similar sense of humour. And in the Netherlands we have Frisians who are related to the English.

@jaysterling26

So, not much then?
