- Isaiah 61:3, NIV
Anyone who knows Lynda now will some time or another find themselves marveling at her bottomless supply of enthusiasm. Whether she is ministering to a large congregation, or one-on-one to a runaway teen, her joyful dedication to the Lord is always a source of encouragement and an infectious catalyst of growth. In November of 1989, Lynda married Mike Randle of Kansas City, Missouri. Mike's background growing up on the streets of Kansas City's inner-city and his dramatic conversion experience have given him a powerful voice to youth who find themselves in the same desperation that he knew on the street. The Randles enjoy the various occasions where they are able to minister together, Mike speaking and Lynda singing. Lynda and Mike have been blessed with two precious daughters, Patience and Joy. One of the remarkable things about Lynda's ministry is her ability to quickly build rapport with her audience and "draw them out" regardless of the type of group she is addressing. In fact, her message and music have proven to be truly cross-cultural.

While the storm howls above me, and there's no hiding place
'Mid the crash of the thunder, precious Lord, hear my cry
Keep me safe till the storm passes by
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of thy hand
Many times satan whispered: There is no need to try
For there's no end of sorrow, there's no hope by and by
But I know thou art with me, and tomorrow I'll rise
Where the storms never darken the skies
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of thy hand
Keep me safe till the storm passes by
Lynda Randle's "Just a Closer Walk With Thee" is a song that reflects on finding strength and refuge in God during times of trouble. In the lyrics, the singer describes hiding in the dark and being unable to find a safe place during a thunderstorm. However, she calls out to God and asks for protection until the storm passes. The storm can be interpreted as a metaphor for any kind of difficult situation in life, and the lyrics speak to anyone who has experienced fear and uncertainty.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "till the storm passes over," emphasizing the idea that tough times are temporary and will eventually come to an end. The singer asks to be held tightly in God's hand, demonstrating trust in His ability to see her through the storm. The second verse touches on the temptation to give in to hopelessness during tough times, but the singer asserts her faith in God's presence and looks forward to a time when there will be no more storms or sorrow.
