Formed in 1998, they are from Brasilia, DF, Brazil. Every member brings their own influences to the band, this is made evident in their mix of rock and ska influenced by all sorts of world music: from Brazilian samba and bossa nova to rhythms of lots of other countries. Their live performances are very energetic. It's common at the end of a show for all band members to go down to the middle of the crowd during the performance of their hit Copacabana. Their music is self-intitled, in cuisine terms, "Bulgarian Feijoada" for their variety of influences. In 2016, the band announced that they would take an indefinite hiatus.

In "Falso Retrato", Móveis Coloniais de Acaju reflects on the complexities of relationships and the act of deception. The lyrics begin by describing the act of taking a photo, while the subject, presumably the singer's partner, fakes happiness for the camera. The singer then describes how the partner's lies and the shared experience of pretending have brought them closer, albeit on false pretences.
The chorus repeats the idea of deception, with the partner denying any wrongdoing and hiding their true feelings. The bridge offers a glimmer of hope, with the mention of happiness reigning, but the final verse returns to the idea of the singer being unable to fit the prescribed role alongside their partner.
