DAYBREAK
M.L. Bongers Project Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

鳥のように my wishes over their airspace
守りたまえ my life I trade in for your pain

宿るだろう my wishes over their airspace
叶うのなら my life I trade in for your pain

鳥のように my wishes over their airspace
守りたまえ my life I trade in for your pain

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of M.L. Bongers Project's song Daybreak express a sense of sadness and despair as they question the lack of meaningful connections made in life. The first stanza begins with the singer questioning whether they have only encountered encounters with people that lack substance or deeper meaning. The second line expresses the desire to not be betrayed by the person they care about, even in death. The following lines depict the image of a sinking ship as the singer feels helpless and overwhelmed by fate. The line "My life I trade it for your pain" expresses their willingness to sacrifice their life for someone else's happiness.

In the second stanza, the singer laments over the cycle of human mistakes that perpetuate and the hatred that is infested in the world. The line "Dare ni mo nagareru kono chi ga daikirai" conveys their disdain for the world that is plagued with violence, anger, and malice. They hope for a future that would be calm and peaceful for everyone. Throughout the song, the singer repeats the phrase "My wishes over their airspace" as if sending out their prayers to the heavens. Overall, the lyrics of Daybreak express a kind of longing for a better tomorrow and a yearning for a deeper connection with the people in their life.

Amazing prog discovery for me. I never heard of M.L. Bongers Project until recently, all thanks to YouTube! Makes me want to own the original LP! At least the LP isn't commanding ridiculous amounts, I could get a copy over at Discogs for under $50 (minus S&H). This music sounded like it should have been released on Sky Records, but instead it was released privately. I am reminded of such bands as Eloy, Ramses, Galaxy (the ones that did Nature's Clear Well), Novalis, Madison Dyke, 1976-78 Jane, and similar groups. I've also seen them compared to Pulsar, which I can understand because of the presence of flute. Love that cover too, it has "rare and obscure private press" written all over it.

Carmen Bernardo

Vocalist puts on a bit of a Peter Sinfield vibe with how he recites those lyrics like poetry.
The band itself suits the manner of his singing/poem recitals.  Pretty good stuff!
