When this song first came out, I was only 13/14 and had no idea how exactly these families would be feeling. When I was on my third deployment to Afghanistan my wife sent me this song. I never knew how hard it was for her to deal with me being gone so much. 22 yards of active duty and 21 years married, I’m grateful we made it through together.

First time I heard this song I was making a bed in my aunties spare room. I turned to TV, clutched the blanket, hit my knees, and cried like a baby for hours. My 2 youngest kids had just been taken from me. I had no where to go. No one who cared. All I had had were my 2 baby boys and they had just been taken. This song was like my soul couldn't take the pain anymore and just started screaming out from inside me. It was unreal. So beautiful yet so much pain. That was 18 years ago. My boys are grown and amazing men. And I will never have to wonder again... 'where'd you go...?' I love you mikel and Jeremiah towns.
