One of Mac Mall’s first singles was a song called “Ghetto Theme”, and the music video directed by Tupac Shakur in 1993. He was also longtime friends with the Mac Dre, who was his mentor early on in his career/ repairing their friendship a couple of years before Dre’s death.[clarification needed] He is one of the premier artists on Dre’s Thizz Entertainment label. He is also cousins to E-40 and B-Legit.
In 1993 Mac Mall released his debut album Illegal Business? on the Young Black Brotha label. He was just 15 years old at the time his debut album was released. Khayree Shaheed worked as the producer and the album featured Ray Luv, Mac Dre and The Mac. In 1995 he contributed a verse to E-40’s “Dusted and Disgusted”, and in 1996 he signed a record deal with Relativity Records, which released his second, and most successful album, Untouchable.
In 1999, he started his own Sessed Out label, the first release being the compilation Mac Mall Presents the Mallennium, followed by his first solo album on the label, Illegal Business? 2000 a year later, although his popularity of a few years earlier had waned. Immaculate followed in 2001, on which he mixed gangster rap with religious themes, with Mackin’ Speaks Louder Than Words in 2002 and Illegal Game in 2004. He also contributed to the first “Boss Ballin” compilation record produced by D-Shot, cousin of Mac Mall and brother of E-40 and former member of the Bay Area Group “The Click”.

Hittin on that pipe til your brain cells pop
All up in my face wanting puff for the five
Ain't trippin what I give him he just wants to get high
Straight to the till and you don't say a word
'cause your workin wit a chip from a ballers blur
Danglas (Fiends) steadin jockin 'cause they saw a cop
but when they flag ya down ya turn your head and don't stop
Clean yo glass dick so you can take major blast
But before you take a trip on your cocaine flight
Mom's she down the door so yo break outta sight
Now you feelin hella maney like its you against the world
'cause yo whole life revolve around that white girl
But not that honky ho that you see every day
Its that wicked white bitch named parubian flakes
And for a fat dub tell me what would you do?
Disrespect your family hit a lick or two
Steal your mama's shit just to get a faulty fix
Drink a glass uh piss
Suck a dead mans dick
Hustlas want to hang you cause ya owe um hella loot
But you don't give a fuck 'cause all you care about goo
You used to have a business
Ya used to havve fuckin life but you trade that shit in for some
California

Now tell me what's wrong with today's society
That make a mothafucker want to die for the "D"
Cocaine has been a killer, since 1983
At first only a high for right, rich and elite
But now its on the street which brings us back to the fiend
He finally found a place were he can light his filthy screen
Searching for a match so he can blaze his own fuse
He lit that yola up and man the pipe went "BOOM"
Mac Mall's song "Dopefiend's Lullaby" portrays the reality of a drug addict's lifestyle. The lyrics depict the life of a dope fiend who is addicted to smoking rocks and is always high. Mr. Dopefiend smokes rocks and hits the pipe until his brain cells pop, which shows the severity of his addiction. He is continuously begging for puffs and wants to get high all the time. The dope fiend's life is entirely based on getting high, and he is willing to risk his relationships and future to get his fix.
The lyrics describe how the dope fiend, despite being broke, uses a chip from a ballers blur instead of money to purchase drugs, which is symbolic of how addiction can rob a person of their dignity, and they resort to illegal means to fund their habit. The dope fiend sneaks into his mama's house to use his drugs, hoping not to get caught. This is a reminder that addiction is not just an individual issue, it affects the entire family dynamic. The lyrics paint a picture of a hopelessly addicted person whose life is centered around drugs, and they will do anything to get their next fix.
