Maduk first came to prominence via the YouTube channel Liquicity Drum & Bass in 2011. Van der Schoot had started producing just a year before and had given his friend Maris Goudzwaard -- who ran Liquicity -- a copy of the track "Avalon" which was promptly uploaded. The liquid drum and bass sound was the perfect fit for the burgeoning channel and was released on their new label of the same name.
Joining forces with Goudzwaard in 2013 to setup the label and their Amsterdam-based club nights, Van der Schoot continued to release on Liquicity and multiple other labels. With his brand of drum and bass becoming popular and winning both best newcomer DJ and Producer at the Drum&Bass Awards 2014 & 2015, Maduk released his debut album "Never Give Up” on U.K.-based label Hospital Records in April of 2016.

The lyrics to Maduk's song Don't Be Afraid are a simple but powerful message about opening oneself up to a connection with another person. The repeated phrase "Don't be afraid to look in my eyes" is a call to let down one's guard and allow themselves to be seen and accepted by another. Looking someone in the eyes is an act of vulnerability that can be scary, but Maduk is urging the listener to embrace that vulnerability and take a chance on a deeper emotional connection.
The repetition of this phrase emphasizes the importance of the message and creates a hypnotic, almost meditative quality to the song. The gentle, uplifting beat and electronic instrumentals also contribute to this feeling of being transported to a place of peace and connection. Overall, the lyrics to Don't Be Afraid are a reminder to let go of fears and trust in the power of human connection.

Don't worry about hate too much. Mean talking person is no different than a barking dog. Just remember some dogs are bigger but most of them are just making a lot of noise just to boost their ego because they're cowards inside. Just let them know you don't care about their lousy attempts to piss you off. If they say something intended to hurt you laugh at it as if it was the best joke :). If they start stupid arguments simply say: stop complaining.
