FATEFUL EVENTS
Then tragedy struck. As a frisky girl, Maegan was playing around with a Chinese Garter when her foot slipped, dislocating her leftt elbow. The doctors said she required six months of therapy, which she hated. and missed many a session. Realizing she had to do something, found her therapeutic solution in the form of drumsticks. With the radio as her guide and drumsticks in hand, Maegan followed to the beat of the music for hours on end in her father’s music room. This relentless therapy got her fully recovered in less than six months, and honed a newly discovered natural knack in drumming. In fact, she got so good at it that a year later, this cute 13-year old bravely entered the music scene as a drummer-percussionist in the rock band Crossroads, composed of seasoned musicians in their mid-twenties. She was their star.
BLESSINGS IN DISGUISE
All this late nights of club gigs started to show in her slipping grades, so her parents grounded her. Naturally, that move ended her career instantly. Devastated, Maegan wasn’t about to leave behind that center-stage high. With music now in her blood, Maegan picked up a guitar and turned to songwriting instead. Giving her 4 basic chords, Freddie left the rest up to his daughter. She picked up a few more chords on her own and filled an entire notebook with songs. By age 16, Maegan cut her first album, entitled, “Maegan Aguilar, Sige Lang Sige” under her father’s label, Aguilar Music productions (AMP), distributed nationwide in 1995 by Alpha Records which garnered the Best Alternative in the prestigious Awit Awards of the same year.
MOVING ON
Two years later, Maegan signed up with Mina Aragon as her Manager. Before anything would happen, Ms. Aragon passed away. Not wanting to leave such talent in a lurch, Aragon’s husband, the movie mogul, Vic Del Rosario, picked up Maegan contract and released her “Burst” album under Viva’s record label NEO Records.
AS A MOVIE STAR
A pretty and genuinely talented young girl with a famous family name was the formula for the making of a star. Vic Del Rosario saw this, and promptly signed up Maegan to a five-year movie contract. Just turning 18, she still needed parents’ consent. Her parents had Viva add a clause that guaranteed her clothes would stay on. After the success of her first movie, “Laging Naroon Ka”, the trend in local films turned to bold. And that marked the beginning of the end of Maegan’s film career. Vic Del Rosario honored the conditions of the contract but was unwilling to go against the trend, and that meant her career as an all-around Viva star went on the back burner. This time, Maegan hardly flinched. She had no desire to shed her clothes for millions of leery men. The only problem was NEO records was also under Del Rosario and that was frozen, too.
GOING PLACES
All these setbacks did not keep this girl down. Maegan took her music far and wide. Travelling to Europe, she developed a huge fan base in Frankfurt, Munich and Hamburg. With her repertoire of original and cover songs. Maegan has graced concert halls in Sweden, Denmark, and Paris. Played at a Folk & Blues concert in Belgium. Twice invited to guest in the Shirataka music festival in Yamagata, Japan. And as the drummer-vocalist to an all-female group called the FLOWERCHILD, with Rozy Torres on lead guitar and Annie Trillo on bass, both former members of the now defunct "Pretty in Pink" all female band. together they performed exclusively at Edge Bar in Central Hong Kong.

Maegan Aguilar Lyrics

To this paradox place
I'll fly away
Far away from here
I get away and dream
Dream of you
When it's all said and done
I'll disappear
Take flight on the wind
Of wishing you were here
Fading light
Like a star who's life
Has been gone for years
And I'll fly
Fly across the sky
And I'll leave
Leave it all behind
If you'll be here
Here with me tonight
I'll be fine
I'll be fine
I'll be fine
Then I'll disappear
Take flight on the wind
Of wishing you were here
Fading light
Like a star who's life
Has been gone for years
And I'll fly
Fly across the sky
And I'll leave
Leave it all behind
If you'll be here
Here with me tonight
I'll be fine
The lyrics of Maegan Aguilar's song Awakening suggest a sense of escapism from the realities of life. The opening lines, "When I close my eyes to this paradox place, I'll fly away far away from here," indicate an otherworldly or surreal setting that provides a temporary escape from life's struggles. The use of the word "paradox" suggests a place where things are not what they seem, and the singer seeks refuge there from the hardships they face in their waking life.
The second verse furthers this theme of escape, with the singer stating their intention to "disappear" and "take flight on the wind" while they "dream of you." Here, the "you" in question may represent a person, a memory, or even an ideal. Regardless of what the "you" represents, it is something that offers the singer comfort and an escape from their current situation.

When I close my eyes
When I retreat into my thoughts
To this paradox place
To this place of contradictions and confusion
I'll fly away
I'll escape from reality
Far away from here
Very distant from my current circumstances
I get away and dream
I take leave and slip into imagination
Dream of you
Create images of you in my mind
When it's all said and done
When everything is finished and settled
And the night has come
After the day has passed and darkness falls
I'll disappear
I'll vanish completely
Take flight on the wind
Fly away on the air current
Of wishing you were here
Born out of my desire for you to be with me
Fading light
Diminishing brightness
Like a star who's life
Similar to a dying celestial body
Has been gone for years
Which ceased existing ages ago
And I'll fly
Depart while soaring
Fly across the sky
Take to the heavens
And I'll leave
I'll depart from here
Leave it all behind
Abandon all that was once meaningful
If you'll be here
On the condition that you join me
Here with me tonight
At my side this evening
I'll be fine
I'll be completely okay
Then I'll disappear
At that moment I'll depart
