Manfred Lyrics

Got my mojo working, but it just won't work on you
I wanna love you so bad till I don't know what to do
I'm going down to Louisiana to get me a mojo hand
I'm going down to Louisiana to get me a mojo hand
I'm gonna have all you women right here at my command
Got my mojo working, but it just won't work on you
I wanna love you so bad till I don't know what to do
I got a gypsy woman givin' me advice
I got a gypsy woman givin' me advice
I got some red hot tips I got to keep on ice
Got my mojo working
Got my mojo working
Got my mojo working
Manfred Mann's "I've Got My Mojo Working" is a blues song about a man struggling to win over a woman's affection despite his strong mojo. The singer claims to have his "mojo working," but laments that it just won't work on the woman he desires. He wants her so badly that he'll travel to Louisiana to get a "mojo hand," a magical charm or amulet in hoodoo and other folklore traditions believed to bring love or protection.
The song is full of bluesy repetition, with the singer repeating the same lines over and over again. This repetition adds to the hypnotic quality of the music and suggests the singer's single-minded pursuit of his desired woman. The singer also references a "gypsy woman" who gives him advice, possibly indicating his desperation to try anything to win over this woman.
Overall, the song captures the desperation and frustration of unrequited love, and the lengths to which people will go to try to win someone's heart.
