Grey
Marcus Jacob Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

When I'm too far gone and out of my head will I, still be there for you
When the sky starts falling and the leaves turn grey, will I, say a prayer for you
Oh you think that it's all wrong
I can't wait til' the sun comes up
But in my head its all the same
You lie and lie, fuck, it's all grey

When the sky starts falling and the leaves turn grey, will I, say a prayer for you

So many stars in the sky
All these flames growing higher
With too much time flying by
How do you know your admired
Can't say it right to my face, don't lie
Locked door but the fence is opened wide
And the city lights never stay the same
Just wanna know what's up in your brain

When I'm too far gone and out of my head will I, still be there for you
When the sky starts falling and the leaves turn grey, will I
I got all my thoughts your in dismay
House is full but the outside's all grey

Out of my head
Out of my head
Oh you think that it's all wrong
I can't wait til' the sun comes up

But in my head its all the same
You lie and lie, fuck, it's all grey

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Marcus Jacob's song "Grey" are deeply introspective and explore the uncertainty and confusion that can come with struggling to understand one's own thoughts and emotions. The use of imagery, such as the falling sky and turning leaves, creates a bleak and desolate atmosphere that mirrors the singer's feelings of isolation and detachment.

Throughout the song, the singer questions whether or not they will still be able to be there for someone they care about, even when they are struggling with their own problems. The repeated refrain of "When the sky starts falling and the leaves turn grey, will I, say a prayer for you" suggests a desire to remain connected to another person, even in the face of difficult circumstances.

The lyrics also touch on the idea of societal pressure to appear strong and put-together, even when struggling internally. The line "Can't say it right to my face, don't lie" speaks to the difficulty of being honest with oneself and others about what is going on inside, perhaps out of fear of judgement or rejection.

Overall, "Grey" is a haunting and emotional reflection on the complexity of human emotions and relationships.

Marc Jacobs might not be at the top of the pyramid with the brands related to luxury but it is indeed luxurious. Marc is a visionary and what he's brought to this world will live forever in fashion history

@TenTenJ

I think his fashion was more successful. The handbags are boring and almost all the same design.

@Lagozaria

🙄

@blktauna

Marc is an icon. LV would be nothing today if not for him. Solid design, decent pricing, excellent quality. Far better than most of the 'luxury' world.

@thomasjames34

The quality of his stuff is really good whether you consider it luxury or not.

@dereklwashington1132

His grunge line was dead on. It showed it was time for the leaders of fashion at the time to just go away.

@annaw27

Okay but now I want to buy a Marc Jacobs bag. 😂

@gracewatson6927

Do it 🎉

@breathless_siren

Another thing about him is he appeals to an indie Crowd and aesthetic. Especially the way he used to look. There was a time where he was a household name amongst luxury Titans. He was the Designer at times as well.

@Rumade

Luxury is subjective. If you earn minimum wage then a £100 handbag is a luxury. If you make £300k a year, then it's not.
