Meet Me in Montana
Marie Osmond Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Wrote my whole life down in an old book,
Songs about you and me.
Been singing to every soul in Tennessee.
Nobody seems to listen,
No one ever smiles the way that you do.
So I guess you never hear me on the radio,
And I'd give up this crazy dream of mine to hold you once more.
Won't you meet me in Montana.
I want to see the mountains in your eyes.
Woah, woah, I had all of this life I can handle.
Meet me underneath that big Montana sky.

I left home for Hollywood.
Lookin' for a part to play.
Well you always said I had such a pretty face.
But, I guess I'm not that pretty,
'Cause no one looks at me the way you do.
Well you'll always be a movie star to me.
Darlin' now I guess it's time that I let go of that dream.

Won't you meet me in Montana
I want to see the mountains your eyes.
Woah, Woah I had all of this life I can handle
Meet me underneath that big Montana sky.

Well were stuck here in these hills that they call mountains.
Darlin' back home in your arms is right where I want to be.
Won't you meet me in Montana
I want to see the mountains your eyes.
Woah, Woah I had all of this life I can handle
Meet me underneath that big Montana sky.

In Montana.
I want to see the mountains in your eyes.

Woah, woah, I had all of this life that I can handle.
Meet me underneath that big Montana sky.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Marie Osmond's "Meet Me in Montana" express the singer's longing to reunite with a loved one in the beautiful surroundings of Montana. She describes how she has spent her life writing songs about this person, but has never found the recognition or connection that she has with them. She left home to pursue a career in Hollywood, but now realizes that it is time to let go of that dream and return to the person who means the most to her.

The imagery in the lyrics is powerful, with references to the mountains in the person's eyes and the beauty of the Montana sky. The singer longs to be reunited with the person and feels that only then will she have truly experienced all that life has to offer.

The song is a poignant reminder of the importance of love and human connection in our lives. It reminds us that fame and success are not the most important things, but rather the people who are closest to us and the relationships that bring us joy and fulfillment.

I just turned 40, and I can remember in the 80’s this song would play on my mom’s radio she had in the kitchen. I’d hear it every morning when she was getting me ready for school. Never left my mind. Rip Mama

I'm 50 and I think of my mother humming and singing with the songs. These are the songs that would always be on the am radio while she's standing with her apron doing dishes. I used to get mad at her for ruining the songs by singing over them which would make her humm louder. :) oh man I'd give anything to hear my mom sing the songs and me at her side just one last time. Rest in peace mom..i miss you

@brandonreid75

Same for me hearing it from my parents and never forgetting it. Rip to your mother

So nostalgic. This song was so hot during my cousin' s heydays. I was just a kid yet i used to love it too much. Now only i know what Montana is all about, a country place in America still with buffalos and cowboy culture. A shame to know that i will never able to visit it during my lifetime. But then again, i can dream. Cant I ? Meeting a girl of my dream in Montana.

One of my favorite country songs of all time. My son got married this summer in Montana on Flathead Lake to a truly wonderful Montana country girl. Neither of them knew how much I loved this song, but sure enough, they played it during their wedding reception dance. Neither of them understood why I was crying. Wishing you and your bride the very best for a very long, happy, and blessed marriage , son!!
