Emerging behind the decks at infamous Boksburg nightclub Sutra in 2007, what began as a once a month ‘old school’ speed garage set quickly resulted in a full blown residency as punters warmed almost instantly to Mark’s music and magnetic energy. His distinct physical appearance due to a background in competitive bodybuilding made Mark easily recognizable and led to the affectionate and enduring title, “The World’s Strongest DJ”.
Over the ensuing 18 months Mark’s profile grew exponentially. In demand at prestigious clubs all over SA, he performed regularly at venues such as The BBC, Raffles, VIP in Plett, 52 Parliament, The College, The Workshop and JHB nightspots Taboo, Vertigo, Ruby Blue, Chicago, Risque, The Stones brand, Casablanca and Voodoo Lounge, to name but a few. And don't you think that, don't you think, don't you think that
And don't you think that I ain't gonna just go away, just go away, no
Don't you think that you will step away
The lyrics to Mark Stent & Ed Kurno's song "Don't You" seem to be addressing someone who may not be taking the singer seriously or who may be trying to push them away. The repetition of "don't you think" emphasizes the importance of the singer's message and the urgency of the situation. The phrase "And don't you think that I ain't gonna just go away" suggests that the singer is not giving up easily and will keep fighting for what they believe in or for the relationship they may have with the listener.
The lines "Don't you think that you will step away" could be interpreted as a warning that the singer is not afraid to confront the listener and make their presence known. It could also be seen as a plea for the listener to not give up on the singer or the situation at hand. The overall feeling of the song is one of determination and strength, with a hint of vulnerability.
