Too much lovin'
Mary-Jo Starr Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I keep forgetting to breath
Wondering if it's too late to leave
Mixing up our bodies
In the dark I'm learning you
I wanna work you out
Do whatever you want to me
I wanna get you off
In the dark I'm melting through
My body's all lines and points and angles
Underneath are lies and a love I can't handle
Give me a taste of what's to come
Can't be too serious
It's meant to be fun
Take it slow take it slow
Making me shake
There's a power in letting go
Think I'm gonna break
Cos your too much of a good thing
Oh your too much of a good thing
You might be too much of a good thing
But you'll never be enough
I'm a tangled mess
Lost whenever I'm undressed
An island of unrest
In the dark I hide from you
I wanna crack your shell
Can you make yourself vulnerable?
You gotta take a risk
In the dark try loving me
My body's all lines and points and angles
Underneath are lies and a love I can't handle
Give me a taste of what's to come
Don't be so serious
It's meant to be fun
Take it slow take it slow
Making me shake
There's a power in letting go
Think I'm gonna break
Cos your too much of a good thing
Oh too much of a good thing

You might be too much of a good thing
But you'll never be enough

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Mary-Jo Starr's "Too Much Lovin'" describe an intense and passionate sexual encounter between two individuals. From the very beginning, the singer is so caught up in the moment that she forgets to breathe, indicating the amount of physical and emotional energy that is being expended. She wonders if it's too late to leave, suggesting that perhaps she was not quite ready for the intensity of the experience. The singer describes how she is "mixing up our bodies" and "learning" her partner in the dark.

The singer portrays herself as eager to please her partner, stating that she wants to "do whatever" he wants to her and "get him off." She describes herself as being "all lines and points and angles," suggesting that she is physically focused on the experience but also "a tangled mess" emotionally. She admits that she is "lost" and "an island of unrest" when she is undressed, but she wants her partner to "crack [her] shell" and make her feel vulnerable.

Throughout the song, the singer emphasizes the physical power of the encounter and the importance of letting go. She encourages her partner to take it slow, but she is also ready to "shake" and almost at the point of breaking. The chorus repeats that her partner is too much of a good thing, but also that he will never be enough. I’m ashamed I even started to watch this. We all age. Let’s do it gracefully. For ourselves and for others

@angelea2184

I refuse to watch it at all.

@thedancingmerganser9292

Well it was an odd draw in. The pronunciation was curious as well. I'm not sure what the point of it was. Pretty woman, some still are, some got seriously ill and died.
I didn't wait for a punchline.

However, the movie stars have one advantage over aging gracefully, and that is excessive plastic surgery. And certain other stars have about 12 different professionals who act as dieticians, life coaches, mind coaches, motivational coaches, fitness coaches, and after all that, it's eye opening to know that they die of preventable things like cardiac arrest and so on. Makes you wonder about the money they spend on rubbish, just to stay in top.

@amberspaulding

I'm also ashamed!
