(B. Bristly, coarse and unflinching, serving of edgy female poprock takes the poppy and punky influences of Garbage, No Doubt and Blondie and mutates them into a personal, memorable breed of accessibility with brutally honest, "badass" chick rock. Keeping it interesting by playing with beat and rhyhtm, structure and the moments of musical pay-off, Matahari is an alternative rock group fronted by female vocalist Ivona Coufalova, their sound is a blend of contemporary pop, punk, rock and techno. Matahari's lyrics are intriguing set to dark driving rhythms and upbeat grooves. Ivona is a passionate vocalist and the band is hard driving utilizing rock rifts with an electronic edge. The CD opens with 'Scream Out Love' that combines stimulating techno tones with a heavy beat leading to the powerful hook belted out by Coufalova. It is followed by another rocker 'Sugar', which is clever lyrically and edgy in execution. 'Over Now' melds varied tempos with dramatic pauses. The song is dark and driving. Matahari, named after a World War I female spy, is aptly named as they combine modern mystery with musical magic! author: Laura T Lynch of Kweevak.com, Tamara Turner, CD Baby.com

Matahari Lyrics

Is it reality
I don't thinks so
Invest your time in there calamity
What a fake catastrophy
They' ve got you hooked
Air your conversations out for us to see
They hang your laundry out for us to see
Your convresations not for us to see
I think they've crossed the line
We're kneeling at the shrine of counterfits
There only purpose is to captivate
Provoke and facinate
To mold your mind
You sit there staring blankly into space
The pictures navigate you into walls
In "Unreality" by Matahari, the lyrics describe the negative impact of media and how it affects people's perception of reality. The song begins by talking about disfunctionality and how it is directing everything, which is not the reality. Then, the lyrics tell the listener to invest their time in their own calamity and not to get caught up in fake catastrophes. The singer warns that the media has got you hooked and wants you to reveal your conversations to the world, whether they are real or not.
The song talks about how the media hangs your laundry out for everyone to see and how our conversations are not for public consumption. The singer feels that the media has gone too far and that people are kneeling at the shrine of counterfeits. The only purpose of the media is to captivate and provoke people to mold their minds. The song ends by saying that instead of being stuck staring blankly into space, people should break free from the pictures that navigate them into walls and find their own reality.
