I remember you and me,yeah, oh yeah
Tangled in hotel sheets
You wore me out
You wore me out
I remember honey lips and words so true
I remember nonstop earthquake dreams of you
All night long
Still can feel you kiss me love
Still can see your brown skin shine, shine
Still can feel you kiss me love
Come on and drive me wild (me wild)
And you move like water, yeah
And you broke like waves
I've never been deeper, so far gone
Your sister in the next room with the television on
Still can feel you kiss me love
Still can see your brown skin shine, shine
Still can feel you kiss me love
Come on and drive me wild (me wild)
Come on and drive me wild
Come on and drive me wild
I remember hearts that beat,yeah
I remember you and me
Tangled in hotel sheets (for hours)
Still can feel you kiss me love
Still can see your brown skin shine, shine
Still can feel you kiss me love
Come on and drive me wild (me wild)
Still can feel you kiss me love
Still can see your eyes like diamonds, diamonds
Memories are strong enough
To come on and drive me wild
Come on and drive me wild
The lyrics of "Still" by Matt Nathanson depict a passionate, whirlwind romance that the singer remembers fondly. Throughout the song, Nathanson reminisces about the intense physical connection he shared with a past lover. He recalls the feeling of being tangled up in hotel sheets, exhausted from the passion that they shared. The lyrics suggest that this relationship was short-lived and intense, as Nathanson remembers the other person's lips, words, and touch vividly despite the passage of time.
The chorus repeats the refrain "Still can feel you kiss me love, still can see your brown skin shine." This highlights the intensity of the connection, and the way in which the memory has stayed with the singer over time. The line "come on and drive me wild" emphasizes the longing that Nathanson still feels for this person.
The final verse introduces a new detail - the presence of the other person's sister in the room next door. This adds to the sense of urgency and illicitness in the memories that Nathanson is recalling.
Overall, "Still" is a song about the lingering power of memory and how past relationships can continue to impact us even after they've ended.
