Open Your Eyes
Maylene & The Sons Of Anarchy Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I try to reach, i try to reach
But i, i don't know why
You lie to me, you lie to me
In the fear of the night

I'm not the one that you believe in
I could never put the fear inside of your pain
I'm not the savior that you've become
I'm not the fear of the only one

Open your eyes, can you see can you see
I'm inside of you (i'm inside of you)
Open your eyes
Can you feel
Can you feel me in your veins?
Watch me take it all away!

What's in your head
What's in your head
I don't
I don't know how
You scream at me
You scream at me
Without making a sound

And in this moment
I'm guiltless
But i promise you will feel this
Inside of your veins

I'm not the savior that you've become
And i don't believe
You're the only one

Open your eyes, can you see can you see
I'm inside of you (i'm inside of you)
Open your eyes
Can you feel
Can you feel me in your veins?
Watch me take it all away!

And you will love the way it feels
To believe in nothing
And you will tell me
When you
When you've had enough
You've had enough
I'll tell you!

Open your eyes, can you see can you see
I'm inside of you (i'm inside of you)
Open your eyes
Can you feel

Can you feel me in your veins?
Watch me take it all away!

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Maylene & The Sons Of Anarchy's song, "Open Your Eyes," reflect the struggle to connect with someone who lies and screams without making a sound, leading to guilt and the feeling of being unable to save the person from their pain. The singer tries to reach and connect with this person, but they do not know why they lie and fear the night. The chorus urges the person to open their eyes and see that the singer is inside them, and they can feel them in their veins, taking away their pain.

The song carries a sense of emotional turmoil and attempts to connect with someone who is struggling, but ultimately the singer feels powerless to help them. The repeated refrain, "I'm not the savior that you've become," speaks to the idea that the person may be looking for something to save them, but the singer cannot fill that role. The imagery of feeling the singer inside them, in their veins, adds to the sense of desperation and need for connection.

This song is killer, and so is the album. This is coming from someone with an open mind to music who also appreciates the band's whole catalog.

I enjoy how they are progressively integrating more and more southern sounds into their music.

Verminoid

Not what i hoped this album would sound like, but i think everyone should give it a chance...now i love it maylene will always be great song writers there's not a track i skip on any album

Melhor música deles até agora!!!

Sealith

Whoever came up for the parts of the song where they sing ''Open' your eyes' matched his singing style and chords and beat perfectly.

I like the variety they throw out with every album. Their first was mostly dirty vocals which took me awhile to get used to, but now I like it alot. II and III had a similar sound, with II having a more half and half mix of dirty vocals and southern sound. III is probably my fave so far with a more southern sound. The guitar breakdowns on III are awesome and have kind of an 80's feeling to them. I look forward to adding IV to my collection. One of the most underrated bands out there.

Could care less what anyone thinks, this song is good, even for MATSOD. Who cares if they changed their sound. If you think you can do better, and continuously put out an awesome record every 2-3 years and not go soft at some point, then you are a freaking genius. Look at Fear Before (The March of Flames) Every album they put out was different yet awesome in their own way.

At first I hated their new sound, because it wasn't the Maylene I grew to love. But this morning I caught myself singing this, now I love it.

I have been with this band since I first saw them at the Masquerade in Atlanta, GA. Guess what? In every album they changed it up a little kind of why I love them. They know what they're doing and if anyone ever says that Dallas Taylor sold out... Well, they deserve pain for such blasphemy.

man I love maylene no matter what. Only a true lover of music will accept the bands chocies, and they didnt sell out, they became masters of music. a band with different faces and can do anything for the love of music.
