As a musician I can totally relate. They are not coallaborating because they want a big audience (although that might be a byproduct), but mecause sharing a stage and having the opportunity of listening to one another live is that enthralling.

John is a living master bluesman and guitarist, so christened by eric clapton and bb king. jacob, not so much. John literally learned 150 new songs to play with dead and company, lerned another masters techniques in jerry garcia, Jacob wouldnt be able to do that. Jacob has a bright future, but he will never be known as a guitar god, Mayer already is.

Brings literal tears to my eyes. I’m not just saying this. The reason I play guitar is because I heard John Mayer’s free falling as a kid. I’ve been rocking with Lizzy before she was popular and she is in my top three favorite artists. And Jacob is humble genius/legend. You know you've made it into the circle when the people you collaborate with are the best in the business.
Mayer could have shredded on his guitar, Collier could have belted out some intense harmonies, over Lizzy's song, but they didn't.
They did exactly what the song needed in the moment. Nothing more and nothing less.
That's the takeaway lesson from this video, other than just the enjoyment of a great song performed very well.

I love the subtle stage chemistry three seemingly unrelated acts have with one another. Great example at 4:37 when Lizzy and Jacob exchange head nods in agreement that it's a good part of John's solo to interject with the outro. Then at 4:41 John looks over still very much playing the solo and beautifully transitions out of it when he sees them coming in.

Or that was the version they have been playing the whole time and there was no improvisation with the solo, you know, either way lol

@Zack Darce you can make a song with other people and never have been in the same room lol. it’s just clips sent to different recording studious that they merged. if anything, a majority of songs with features aren’t made in the same studio with the artists together. the music video for the song is also just drawings, it has nothing to do w them being together.
