The Unseen
Medeia Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

My dogma
A trait of this war
Leads to an endless oblivion
I can't see beyond this fixation
As it gouged my eyes out

I'll fall
But never hit the ground

Abolishing gazes surround me for I am not atoned

Pranayma
Now help me breathe
Gasp the last bites of air from this cellar
My lungs constricted by anticipation
As I prepare to enter the other side

I'll fall
But never hit the ground
I fall
But never hit the ground

Constellations disappeared through suffocation
Air vanished through the hole
Let to rot eternally in dimensions beyond unreal
Hell is around the corner
And already here

This is the autobiography of a murderer

Overall Meaning

In the song The Unseen by Medeia, the lyrics describe the internal struggle of an individual who is consumed by a particular mindset or dogma. The line "My dogma, a trait of this war leads to an endless oblivion" implies how this individual's beliefs are leading them to destruction, and they cannot see beyond their fixation. This creates a sense of despair and blindness as the individual is unable to perceive any other perspectives or alternatives. The line "As it gouged my eyes out" is a metaphorical description of how this fixation has blinded the individual.

The second paragraph introduces the concept of Pranayama, which is a breathing technique used in yoga. The phrase "Now help me breathe, gasp the last bites of air from this cellar" can be interpreted as a plea for help from this suffocating and oppressive belief system. The line "As I prepare to enter the other side" suggests that the individual is willing to confront their beliefs and face the consequences, whatever they may be. The lines "I'll fall but never hit the ground" and "Constellations disappeared through suffocation, air vanished through the hole" reinforce the idea of a descent into darkness and an unknown realm.

Overall, The Unseen explores the theme of ideological fanaticism and the subsequent personal downfall that comes with it. The use of metaphors and vivid imagery evokes a sense of hopelessness and helplessness.

I've always wanted to go to Finland/Norway/Sweden and see some really good shows or festivals. Here you have to catch good bands 1 at a time if they decide to come over. I was recently at Volbeat's first New York City show which was awesome to see and they had a great time as well. I saw the video for antichristmas and it is pretty great! I think it's nice for a metal band to have a sense of humor. I've told a bunch of my friends about Medeia and they all love it.

I just found this band (ashamed that it took me this long!) and they are incredible! Just sucks that they don't have distro in the US or tour here for that matter. They'd be huge here. Well, as huge as a metal band could get here, heh.

One of these days when the dollar is worth more than dog shit I'm definitely going to do that. I follow a few of the metal news sites and always see the updated bills for the festivals and I'm always jealous. The most we get is Ozzfest, which usually only has a handful of decent bands on the second stage. After Woodstock 1999 I think that promoters are terrified to do big festivals and especially with metal.

Awkwardly_Scripted

Well, this band rules.

@cerebrex yea the videos are cool. but they take away from the music which i want to appreciate in all its brutality so i tend not to watch them :P in the summer you could do a loop tour of the nordic countries... at least tuska in helsinki is one festival you really dont wanna miss. they pull in some big names so you should check their website out if you're planning something like that. i can almost guarantee you won't be disappointed with a trip like that.

@cerebrex that means you have to come up to finland... they tour pretty often around here. listen to antichristmas, it's the most badass song ever

paucceri

@cerebrex that's why europe is chilled, cos the whole festival thing is alive and well. that said, club gigs are much better than open air ones in my book (generally).
