I'll stand by your side
Stories will be told
Of the love, and the light, and the way you treat me right
So you don't gotta look for me daddy,
I'll be right by your side
Right by your side
You make me feel like I'm in the right place
You make me feel like the sun is on my face
And your kiss is so light, but it's firm and it's just right
So you don't gotta look for me daddy,
I'll be right by your side
Right by your side
I've been told I'm a fool for you
Rain or shine (unknown) can't keep me from you
No no no no
Climed so high, fell so low, kept me spinnin'
I don't know which way is the beginnin'
You put me first and I can't believe it's real
You put me first and I can't describe this feeling
In the day in the night, it's because you treat me right
So you don't gotta look for me daddy,
I'll be right by your side
Right by your side
I've been told I'm a fool for you
Rain or shine (unknown) can't keep me from you
No no no no
Climed so high fell so low kept me spinnin'
I don't know which way is the beginnin'
I'll follow you anywhere that you go
I'll stand by your side
Stories will be told
Of the love, and the light, and the way you treat me right
So you don't gotta look for me daddy,
I'll be right by your side
Melanie Durrant's song "By Your Side" is a heartfelt expression of love and devotion to a significant other. In the opening lines of the song, the singer expresses her unwavering commitment to following their partner wherever they may go and standing by their side through thick and thin. She anticipates that stories will be told of their love and the way that her partner treats her right, suggesting that their relationship is special and worth celebrating.
The singer addresses her partner as "daddy," which in this context appears to be a term of affection rather than a reference to a familial relationship. She assures her partner that they don't need to look for her because she will always be by their side. The singer feels like she is in the right place with her partner, describing the way they make her feel like the sun is on her face. She appreciates the little things, such as their light but firm kiss, that make her feel loved and valued.
The song acknowledges that their relationship is not without its challenges, with the singer acknowledging that she has been called a fool for her devotion to her partner. However, she insists that nothing can keep her from being with the one she loves, even if she has climbed high and fallen low in the process.
Overall, "By Your Side" is a love song that celebrates the joys and challenges of a devoted and committed relationship. It highlights the ways in which a partner can make the other feel loved, cherished, and secure.
