Melvin wrote "Singing the Blues" -- a #1 c&w hit for Marty Robbins and a #1 pop hit for Guy Mitchell in the late fall of 1956. He also wrote "I Like Your Kind of Love," a Top 10 pop hit for Andy Williams in the spring of 1957. This record, "Keep a-Lovin' Me Baby," got a lot of airplay on country stations in the late summer of '57. At the age of 3, Endsley contracted polio and was wheelchair-bound the rest of his life. He died in 2004 at the age of 70.
