BMG recruited hit production team the Matrix who had produced hits for Avril Lavigne and Hilary Duff to write and produce their first single "Get Me Some". Released in June 2003 in Australia, it went top 5 in that country as at July 2003.
Their second single "5 Years From Now" was released in January 2004 and reached the top 20 of the Australian charts in February 2004. The band's third single "Every Little Step" is a cover version of the Bobby Brown hit from his album Don't Be Cruel. This track was produced by Cutfather & Joe who wrote and produced the Jamelia hit "Superstar".
The band's self-titled debut Mercury4 was released on May 31 2004. The album also features Air Supply's hit "All Out of Love" with vocals by Russell Hitchcock and Graham Russell of Air Supply. The track features contributions by Kevin Layton who replaced Jarvier Perez who left the band for personal reasons in early 2004.
When BMG merged with Sony, Mercury4 were dropped due to poor album sales. According to rumour they are still together, possibly under a new name, but this has not been verified.

Had a dress so tight

I said "Girl, you turn me on"
She said "You're coming on strong. (What?)
And my man is standing right behind you."
Oh no
It don't matter if you need it or not (need it or not)
And I need you more
The more you push me away
Oh...you want me to look but you don't want me to touch (yeah)
Now I never needed you so much
You better listen up girl
When I say...
Chorus:

Wanna get gotta get me some of that
I wanna get me some of that
Wanna get me some
I need to get me some of that
Wanna get gotta get me some of that
She said "I'm only gonna give it up (that's right)
To only one man (only one man)
And I don't love you" (I don't love you)
I said "Don't worry about a thing
'Cos for what I got planned (babe)
You don't need to"
No...
Now everybody wants what they aint got
It don't matter if you need it or not (need it or not)
And I need you more
The more you push me away
Oh...you want me to look but you don't want me to touch

Rap:
I'm in a da slippa

I'm a da biggy bomb ass rappada
When I'm smellin da greens I go so crickity crackity crazier
In other da words you better make
A quick thinkin' decision
Or I'll be getting a Kev knife
And I'll cut you in position

But that's okay now, that's okay
Comin' to get ya, comin'to get ya
(Repeat chorus)
The lyrics of Mercury4's song "Get Me Some" tell a story of a man who meets a girl one Saturday night and is instantly attracted to her. He compliments her tight dress and expresses his interest, but she responds by saying that he is coming on too strong and that her boyfriend is right behind him. This realization startles him, leading to the exclamation, "Oh no."
The chorus of the song reflects a common desire for what we don't have. The man acknowledges that everyone wants what they don't possess, regardless of whether they actually need it. In this case, he admits wanting the girl more the more she pushes him away. He describes a conflicting situation where she wants him to look but not touch, a scenario that intensifies his desire for her even more than before. He emphasizes his need to have her, expressing his longing to "get me some of that."
In the second verse, the girl asserts that she will only give herself to one man and clarifies that she does not love the singer. However, he assures her not to worry because he has plans in mind which will not require her to do anything she doesn't want to. The man implies that he has a strategy to win her over and continue pursuing her, no matter her initial reservations.
The rap section adds a playful and slightly boastful tone to the song. The rapper describes himself as a confident and successful individual in the music industry. He uses a mix of humorous and assertive language to convey his determination, warning that he will come and get what he wants.
Overall, "Get Me Some" portrays the struggle of desire and pursuit in relationships. The lyrics highlight the lures of attraction, the conflicting sentiments of wanting what cannot be obtained, and the determination to overcome obstacles in order to get what one desires.

2/3 years earlier, these guys may have been more successful, but in 2003? Yeah, I can see why they never took off.....The era of boy-bands and the TRL bubblegum sound this was clearly going for had been uncool for at least 2 years and was LONG-GONE by 2003!
