Born in New York in 1969 but raised in Dublin, Christopher became a popular and acclaimed member of the Dublin music scene along with his fellow alumni of the Grafton Street busking crowd (which also included the soon-to-be members of Kila and the Frames). Christopher and The Mary Janes also worked with the charity Warchild, helping with art and music therapy for children in Bosnia.
Christopher embarked on a solo career in 2000 with the release of the Heyday EP. Sadly he died in 2001 following a tragic accident while on tour with the Waterboys in Groningen, Holland. His Skylarkin' album was finished over the next year by his friends, family and musical colleagues and was released in 2002. It won the album of the year at the Meteor Awards beating Damien Rice's 'O' and Mundy's '24 Star Hotel'.
Daydreamin'
Mic Christopher Lyrics

A hobo goin' looking for his life
And knowing almost every night
He'll never find one
'Cause he's making the same old mistake
And looking while he's not awake
Searching the lines with the mind
That's he's out of
And see the groom that just got told
That he's been left out in the cold
'Cause she said she had seeds to sow
Said she needs some time to grow
Goin'
Soul-searching
Cause it's our time
And we'll use it any way we want to
Why should we wait
For things we want in life
When we can just go out and find them
And stop dreaming our lives away
Just a little story of the times
People on a mission or a climb
Looking around and taking in what is out there
It might come to them in a wave or a splash
But just a little something makes them act
So they stop, to realise what they've been missing
See the man as he dies in bed
Starts to thinking he's never lived
The song "Daydreamin'" by Mic Christopher is a thoughtful and reflective ballad that offers insight into the human experience of searching for purpose and meaning. The lyrics tell a story of a hobo who is wandering aimlessly, looking for something he feels is missing in his life. Despite his efforts, he remains unfulfilled and unable to find what he is searching for. In contrast, other characters in the song are more successful in their search for purpose. For example, there is the groom who has been left by his partner to pursue her own goals and dreams, as well as people on a mission or a climb who have found something that motivates them to act.
The chorus of the song encourages listeners to take action in pursuing their own dreams and desires, rather than passively daydreaming about what they want. The lyrics are a reminder that time is precious, and we should make the most of it by actively seeking out the things we want in life, rather than waiting for them to come to us.
