Borderline
Michael Gray/Steve Edwards Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Its gonna be another lonely night
One more and I'm gonna die
Wired out waiting for the sign
Coz your a risk and I'm borderline

All I know is I've been sitting with this fire and it burns inside
Man if you want me to walk your line then don't stop at eight no lets take it
To the nine's
I know that we should lay out and love
Because man I really need it
To the nine's
I may be full but It's not enough
Come and show me how to feel it

All or nothing
You know that's how I play the game and I'm ready now
Man if you want me, come cross the line and

Slide up to eight then lets take it
To the nine's

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Michael Gray Feat Shelley Poole’s song “Borderline” depicts the narration of a person who is waiting eagerly for a sign from the ideal person they want to be with. They feel as if they are on the edge of their sanity because they know that falling for this person would be a risk. The person is desperate and is on the verge of becoming lonely, and is afraid that if they don't experience love soon, they might die.

Furthermore, the lyrics reveal that the person is not content with what they feel and are seeking more. They know that they have a fire within themselves that burns them from inside, but they are ready to walk the line that the ideal person wants them to, and take their love to extremes; to the ‘nines.’ They are ready to break all barriers and put all their emotions on the line to experience love at its fullest.

Overall, the song “Borderline” lyrically describes someone in love who is risking everything they have to be with the person they desire. The song takes listeners on a journey of a desperate man, longing for love, and how he navigates the thin line between sanity and insanity.

This is my favorite video of all time. Love the innocence of the character and the simplicity if the track. So clean. Mr. Gray kills it each time. Anyone agree?

@Butlins14

Yes all time classic. I like the bit at the end where he asks the little boy if he's OK innocence as you say

Life, it seems, never ceases to amaze me.

I have never seen this music video or heard this song before until tonight. But discovering it was made in 2007 reminded me a whole lot of what life used to feel like back then. I was 22 at the time this came out, and I definitely can remember most of life then feeling like how this music video portrayed everything: carefree, innocent, hopeful and surprising.

The world needs more of this than ever.
