Wind
Miku & friends Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Based on Sega's 1988's racing game Power Drift (far older than whatever you were thinking of). Relevant:

- Uses the same graphics engine as After Burner; extremely clunky by modern standards. One reviewer compared it to "driving on Lincoln Logs".
- 5 courses in all, A, B, C, D, and E; music is from B.
- 5 increasingly twisty and unforgiving stages per course (plus a bonus stage for getting all wins). Track in the video is Stage 1 of B, the third easiest in the game and one the very few where it's possible to go flat-out all the way.
- 12 drivers in all, none of whom wear helmets or racing suits and are by all appearances total amateurs.
- Despite the title, the cars do not actually drift.
- A driver does a certain action whenever passing another driver... pump fist, raise shades, point thumb at self, etc. Luka is portraying Emily, who blows kisses.
- The pace is blazingly fast. Top speed of 244kph, bull ring courses. Luka would be able to complete 14 laps over the course of this song.
- An announcer says a bunch of things over the course of the game, but the only one that kinda fits something in the song is "Go for number one," which he says just before each race begins.
- There are trackside signs, but you'll be too busy trying to avoid crashing into them to read them.
- Opposing cars don't roll over. Your car can, and will most likely be doing it frequently in the latter stages.
- The shifter has two settings, "low" and "high", so interior shot at around 2:05 is completely accurate.
- You get the congratulatory text if you complete the 5th stage (or the bonus stage if you got all wins). Yes, it really does look like that.
- Emily is the only driver in the game anywhere near as beautiful as Luka or Rin.

S.S.T. deserves a lifetime achievement award, as well as those who take retro classics and hype it up. I use Meiko's After Burner for my retro music panel as an example at conventions to show how music like this can still thrive today

Rin as an Formula 1 cheerleader is the best. She looks awesome and sounds better.

I love how this video was illustrated by sega themselves :)

It was?

Although given the wording I think the original commenter was confused too. All of these videos are presumably worked by Sega given that the games are developed by Sega studios.

jah._.ithink

Alex Johnson not all of them. Like edit pvs and stuff aren’t all made by sega

Tashi Mnene

I think you mean the song cover you see in the menu was illustrated by Sega
