Apart from pursuing his own solo career he was a member of the Keef Hartley Band which performed at the Woodstock Festival in 1969.
Other groups Anderson has been associated with are; the Spencer Davis Group, Broken Glass, The Dukes, Savoy Brown, T.Rex and Chicken Shack.
In early 2006 he joined The British Blues Quintet with Maggie Bell, Zoot Money, Colin Hodgkinson and Colin Allen.

Miller Anderson's song "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" is about communication breakdown between two individuals in a relationship. The opening verses suggest that the singer is not always going to be perfect and sometimes he will get upset or angry when things go wrong, but that does not mean he is a bad person. He explains that he is just a soul whose intentions are good and when he is upset, it's because of things that are happening around him rather than anything personal. The chorus is a plea to his partner to not misunderstand him, to try and see his good intentions even when he is struggling.
In the middle of the song, he highlights the two sides to his personality. Sometimes he is very carefree and joyful, but other times he worries and becomes edgy. He doesn't mean to take it out on his partner and wants her to know that he loves her. He acknowledges that he is only human and has faults like anyone else. He regrets small mistakes he has made and doesn't want his partner to misjudge his actions.
