Still Alive
Mirror's Edge. Lisa Miskovsky Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I have changed, I have changed
Just like you, just like you
For how long, for how long must I wait?
I know there's something wrong
Your concrete heart isn't beating
And I've tried to make it come alive
No shadows, just red lights
Now I'm here to rescue you

Ooh I'm still alive, I'm still alive
I cannot apologize, no
Ooh I'm still alive, I'm still alive
I cannot apologize, no

So silent, no violence
But inside my head so loud and clear
You're screaming, you're screaming
Covered up with a smile I've learned to fear
Just sunshine and blue sky
Is this is all we get for living here?
Come fire, come fire
Let it burn and love come racing through

Ooh I'm still alive, I'm still alive
I cannot apologize, no
I'm still alive, I'm still alive
I cannot apologize, no

I've learned to lose, I've learned to win
I turn my face against the wind
I will move fast, I will move slow
Take me where I have to go

Ooh I'm still alive, I'm still alive
I cannot apologize, no
I'm still alive
Ooh I'm still alive, I'm still alive
I cannot apologize, no
I'm still alive, I'm still alive
I cannot apologize, no

Ooh I'm still alive, I'm still alive
I cannot apologize, no

Overall Meaning

The song "Still Alive" by Lisa Miskovsky for the video game Mirror's Edge serves as a representation of the singer, Faith's determination to survive and excel in her rebellious cause against a domineering and oppressive government. The first few lines, "I have changed, I have changed, Just like you, just like you" signify how the character, like everyone else in the society, has been molded and shaped by the system they live in, but through the hardships and trials she's undergone, she's become stronger and a force to be reckoned with.

The lyrics "Your concrete heart isn't beating, and I've tried to make it come alive" reflect Faith's efforts to save her sister Kate, who is being held captive and is under threat of being executed. Faith knows that her sister still believes in the system that is supporting the tyrants and is desperate to change her perspective. The line "No shadows, just red lights" highlights the urgency of the situation and how the danger is imminent.

The chorus, "Ooh, I'm still alive, I'm still alive, I cannot apologize, no" showcases Faith's defiance and her promise to fight until the end, regardless of the consequences. The lyrics "Let it burn and love come racing through" highlight how Faith is committed to her cause and how she's willing to take risks for the sake of her loved ones and freedom.

I don't know why I find the 2006-2009 futuristic aesthetic so nostalgic. Something about it is just so comforting while also still feeling fresh.

@Rob-nv7ew

I think the game hit everyone hard because it feels so lonely but at the same time you feel a connection with the city. There's something beautiful about feeling an understanding with the world around you without having to have a human connection there beside you

I know the answer, because in that time there is hope for a greener future yet we want a better next gen tehcnology, combine it then you will get a "futriger aero" aesthetic, google it and you will find for what you looking for

@@septiancahya I looked it up on google, thanks for showing this, it's a really cool topic to dig into and I have to admit that's how mid 2000s really felt like, glossy and green/blue
