Can't Fight This Feeling

And yet I'm still afraid to let it flow
What started out as friendship has grown stronger
I only wish I had the strength to let it show
I tell myself that I can't hold out forever
I said there is no reason for my fear
'Cause I feel so secure when we're together
You make everything so clear
And even as I wander
I'm keeping you in sight
You're a candle in the window
On a cold, dark winter's night
And I'm getting closer than I ever thought I might
And I can't fight this feeling anymore
I've forgotten what I started fighting for
It's time to bring this ship into the shore
And throw away the oars forever
'Cause I can't fight this feeling anymore
I've forgotten what I started fighting for
And if I have to crawl upon the floor
Come crashing through your door
Baby, I can't fight this feeling anymore
And if I have to crawl upon the floor
Come crashing through your door
Baby, I can't fight this feeling anymore
The song "Can't Fight This Feeling" by the Rock of Ages Cast depicts the struggle of someone who is caught up in a romantic attachment to a friend. The singer confesses that the friendship has turned into something stronger, but they are hesitant to express their feelings fully for fear of potential harm to their relationship. However, they cannot avoid their emotions any longer and are ready to take the chance to reveal their true feelings.
The lyrics communicate the strain of trying to hold back one's emotions, but ultimately recognizing that denying their feelings is causing more harm than good. The lines "I've forgotten what I started fighting for" and "It's time to bring this ship into the shore, and throw away the oars forever" show the realization that it's time to put an end to the struggle of hiding their affection and move forward with honesty and vulnerability.

Why can't they film this live with the original cast?! Like they did with Rent, Phantom (though that wasn't original, but hell I still loved it), Oklahoma, etc. I would totally buy it. I saw this musical and this thing was kick ass, I loved every minute of it.

I adore Russell and his accent too. I wasn't thrilled with a few of the changes the movie made -- for one thing, they left out what a womanizer Russell's character was supposed to be (hence the camel toe shirt he wore in the show) which made this scene even more unexpected and funny. But there are things you can do with a movie that you can't do on stage so I really did like the movie. Tom Cruise was surprisingly brilliant in it!

I know you said this 8 years ago but imo tom cruise was the worst thing about the movie ngl. he completely ruined stacee jaxxs

this is probably the only scene from the movie that does the musical justice.

I'm developing a dream cast in my head for this show, and these two remain the same. :)

This is really good and funny but personally prefer the film for the only reason of Russell Brand's English accent I find it makes it's more hilarious!!

Same here. His singing voice is even very similar to Jack's. I would be in NYC in a second if Jack ever played the role and I'm sure he would be hilarious. I was lucky enough to see it when Dee Snyder played the other guy though, for a limited time, so that was great.

1 minute and 49 seconds, and still a better love story than Twilight.
