The band wrote prolifically from the outset and then set about touring hard, using experiences from both to fine tune their writing style and capture the dynamism of their live shows. The end of their final tour early last year saw them decamp to the lowlands of Scotland, where they sought inspiration to write their first album.
'Small Talk' was barely complete when it unwittingly found its way to the other side of the Atlantic where the legendary management duo of Q Prime's Peter Mensch and Cliff Burnstein signed them to their new 'Grunion' label.
Having now remixed the album with QPrime's backing, the legendary John Goodmanson (Hot Hot Heat, Wu Tang, Blonde Redhead) has captured the band's the live feel, so much so that the band will re-release Small Talk in the UK.
The results speak for themselves. Mohair's sizzling diversity finds itself wrapped up in 40 minutes of filthed-up rockers and climactic epics.
With a UK Top 10 'Indie' single, support continuing to build from the music press, national newspapers, BBC and independent radio, a self owned UK label, a US deal and 3 national tours in the last 12 months, Mohair are all set to hit the US.
With critically acclaimed performances at Eurosonic and SXSW, ('Band of SXSW' - LA Times) Mohair has begun developing strong international foundations. Their stellar live reputation has been further enhanced with two huge performances at Club NME at London's KoKo and British Music Week in Berlin.
And with their first TV appearance broadcast on Channel 4 (Album Chart Show - April 28th), a European stadium show and a few main stage festival appearances under their belts alongside the likes of Primal Scream, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Muse and The Killers, 2006 just gets better and better.
All good preparation, then, for an assault on the US in the Autumn of 2006 when 'Small Talk' hits the shelves on 19th September.

The End of the Line
Mohair Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'll be as busy as a bee
At home watching daytime tv
In my sole company
When my chips are down
I'll get a take-out on a whim
I'm in limbo, dance in a hole
Won't you fly
Don't let life's loves pass you by
You will die
This is the end of the line
When my ship comes in
I'll turn a blind eyei to the sea
Drinking wine feeling fine
Until closing time closes on me
Won't you fly
Don't let life's loves pass you by
You will die
This is the end of the line
I went to the water
To wash my hands
But they looked clean to me
I blew my chance
Won't you fly
Don't let life's loves pass you by
You will die
This is the end of the line
The lyrics to Mohair's song The End Of The Line evoke a sense of resignation and acceptance. The first two stanzas seem to suggest that the singer is resigned to a life of solitary and mundane activities when their luck runs out. The use of an idiom like "busy as a bee" is ironic here since there will be no need for the singer to be truly busy, as they suggest they will simply be watching TV. The second line of the second stanza captures the singer's sense of being in limbo; perhaps they are waiting for something to happen or their luck to change.
The chorus seems to be addressing the listener, urging them to make the most of life and not let opportunities slip away. The line "you will die" is a jarring reminder of the finality of life and the need to make the most of it. The final stanza of the song has a hint of regret, with the singer feeling like they have missed their chance. The act of washing their hands could be seen as symbolic of trying to cleanse themselves of their mistakes, but ultimately feeling like it is too late.
Overall, The End Of The Line seems to be a song about the acceptance of one's circumstances in life, while also urging the listener to make the most of theirs.

When my luck runs out
When things stop going my way
I'll be as busy as a bee
I'll be doing nothing at all
At home watching daytime tv
I'll spend my days indoors, watching TV
In my sole company
Alone, without any other company
When my chips are down
When I'm facing difficulties
I'll get a take-out on a whim
I'll indulge in some fast food, just because
I'm in limbo, dance in a hole
I'm stuck and don't know where to go, so I'm just dancing in place
In my soul, just to fit in
Just to feel like I belong somewhere
Won't you fly
Can't you break free?
Don't let life's loves pass you by
Don't miss out on what life has to offer
You will die
Life is short
This is the end of the line
This is where everything ends
When my ship comes in
When my good fortune finally arrives
I'll turn a blind eye to the sea
I'll ignore the cause of my fortune and enjoy it anyway
Drinking wine feeling fine
Indulging in luxury
Until closing time closes on me
Until everything comes to an end
I went to the water
I searched for a solution
To wash my hands
To cleanse myself
But they looked clean to me
But I didn't find what I was looking for
I blew my chance
I missed my opportunity
