Superman
Moi? Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

On a sweet Sunday morning
I was only 15
Now I'm reminiscing
I broke into a million pieces
Each piece, a thousand creases
A memory of my heart, looking up at the stars
Cause I, I wanted to fly like Superman does
And feel tremendous
Cause I, I wanted to fly like Superman does
And feel tremendous

On a sweet Sunday morning
I was only moments from my 15 minutes of fame
I broke into a million pieces
Each piece, a thousand creases
A memory of my heart, now I'm looking at the stars

Cause I, I wanted to fly like Superman does
And feel tremendous
Cause I, I wanted to fly like Superman does
And feel tremendous
Cause I, I wanted to fly like Superman does
And feel tremendous
Cause I, I wanted to fly like Superman does
And feel tremendous

Cause what goes up must come down
And what's coming down is coming down fast
I think you fell on my heart
Cause what goes up must come down
And what's coming down is coming down fast
Flew with the stars
Flew with the stars

I broke into a million pieces
Each piece, into a thousand creases
A memory of my heart, now I look at the stars

Cause I, I wanted to fly like Superman does
And feel tremendous
Cause I, I wanted to fly like Superman does
And feel tremendous

On a sweet Sunday morning

Overall Meaning

, the singer reflects back on a moment 14 years ago when she was only 15 years old. She remembers wanting to fly like Superman and feel the tremendous rush that comes with soaring through the sky. The memory of her heart looking up at the stars is now fragmented into a million pieces, each piece containing a thousand creases. The desire to soar like Superman and feel that larger-than-life energy is something that has stayed with her throughout the years.

As the song progresses, the singer notes that 14 seconds ago, she was only moments away from her 15 minutes of fame. She again reflects on the idea of breaking into a million pieces, each containing a thousand creases. It seems as if this desire to fly and feel tremendous is a double-edged sword; the feeling of being on top of the world comes with the knowledge that whatever goes up must come down. As she looks up at the stars now, the singer notes that what's coming down is coming down fast. She wonders if someone, perhaps a love interest, has fallen into her heart like a fallen star.

Overall, the song seems to be about the universal human desire to feel larger-than-life, to want to soar and feel like we can do anything. However, this desire can come with a price, as the highs can be followed by crushing lows.

Currently we are all going through a difficult time. As of right now i have been seeking comfort in nostalgia and have been on a binge of all the throwbacks. This is just one of them that never left me. An absolute gem.

I remembered this song from seeing Moi play at Hume Lake and I was surprised and delighted to see him on the Song Off. Super talented guy. Really sad they didn't give him the recognition he deserved.
