Since their beginning in April 2001, Mombojó has been collecting important experiences for the actual work of the band. In 2002 Mombojó was in one of the most important festivals in Brazil, and received great reviews from the press for their concert in the 10th Abril Pro Rock.
In 2003, the band was benefited by Pernambuco's government to record their first Album: Nadadenovo. Recorded and mixed in Recife by Igor Medeiros and Mad Mud (Leo D & William P), and mastered in São Paulo (Classic Master), the album soon got public and media attention. Nadadenovo has fifteen tracks with many local folk influences, local instruments and electronic samples.
On July 6th, 2007 Rafael (aka "O Rafa"), 24 years old, the trombone and flute player, who was always by the side of Marcelo Campello, passed away from a heart attack.

The lyrics of "Homem-Espuma" by Brazilian band Mombojó are poetic and contemplative. The refrain "O homem é como a espuma do mar, que navega pela superfície das águas" (Man is like the seafoam, that sails on the surface of the waters) is a metaphor for the transience and impermanence of human life. Seasfoam is a fleeting, ephemeral substance that disappears with the slightest touch, just like a human life can be extinguished in an instant by the forces of nature. The song suggests that we are all just passing through life for a brief moment, like a wave cresting and crashing onto the shore.
In the second half of the song, the lyrics become more introspective, as the band reflects on the idea that our lives can be swept away by the winds of fate at any moment. "E quando o vento soprar, Ela desaparecerá / Assim são nossas vidas, Quando se são varridas" (And when the wind blows, it will disappear / That's how our lives are, when they are swept away) are a reminder that nothing is guaranteed in life, and that we should cherish every moment we have.
Overall, "Homem-Espuma" is a beautiful meditation on the themes of impermanence and mortality, and a poignant reminder to live life to the fullest.
