If I always win
I like to live in the moment,
Start competing everything
I can scrape the surface
deep thoughts to achieve
There are several ways to burn our bridges I believe
I do remember the rules
Agreed within
But if you read between the lines
There's so much more you can see
You are going to be just fine
You're a shining light
You're a shining light
You are going to be just fine
You're a shining light
You're a shining light
If we bend the rules
For the ones we love
all arrive in the moment
when we are opened up
But what if we fall deeper
Creating walls we can't see
I would be petrified for all the things we need
You are going to be just fine
You're a shining light
You're a shining light
You are going to be just fine
You're a shining light
You're a shining light
You are going to be just fine
You're a shining light
You're a shining light
You are going to be just fine
You know how to reach out
You know how to reach out
You know how to reach out
You know how to reach out
The lyrics to Moss's song "Not Today" communicate a message of resilience and optimism. The opening lines "I can never lose, if I always win" suggest a mindset of confidence and a refusal to accept defeat. The singer embraces living in the present moment and constantly striving for success in everything they do. They believe in digging beneath the surface, exploring deep thoughts to achieve their goals.
The next set of lyrics introduce the idea of burning bridges, implying that the singer is willing to cut ties and sever connections if necessary. However, they also acknowledge that there are multiple ways to do this. It could refer to leaving behind negative influences or harmful relationships in order to progress. The singer remembers the rules and agreements made, but they also see more beyond the surface. They understand that there is a deeper meaning or hidden truth that can be discovered if one reads between the lines.
The chorus reassures the listener, emphasizing that they are going to be just fine. The repeated phrase "You're a shining light" conveys the message of hope and encouragement. It suggests that no matter the obstacles or challenges faced, the listener possesses an inner light, a strength that will guide them through. The chorus is a powerful reminder that they have the ability to overcome any difficulties they encounter.
The second verse explores the concept of bending the rules for loved ones, suggesting a willingness to go beyond the norm to support and care for those they cherish. However, it also poses the question of whether this can lead to deeper problems, such as building invisible walls that hinder communication or understanding. The singer expresses the fear of losing what is truly important, highlighting the importance of maintaining open and transparent relationships.
The final repetition of the chorus emphasizes the listener's ability to reach out, suggesting that they have the capacity to connect with others and seek assistance when needed. It reinforces the idea that they are not alone in their journey and that they possess the strength to overcome any obstacles they may face.
