Shortly after formation, Kirsten and Phil moved the band to Oakland, CA, then later to Los Angeles.
1991 to 1998 saw the band release three full length records, three seven inches, one live record and several compilation exclusive songs. In support of their output they extensively toured the United States, Mexico, Canada and Europe.
Penelope Spheeris approached the band in 1996 and as a result they are featured in her documentary film "The Decline of Western Civilization: Part III", for which Phil recorded his first soundtrack.
In 1998, just as they were about to embark on a national tour in support of their newest album, The Gut-Wringing Machine, the band came to an abrupt end when Phil died from complications arising from his chronic asthma. Five years past. Five years of mourning. Kirsten participated in other projects, but nothing satisfied her intense anger and frustration with world politics like Naked Aggression.
Thus, in 2003, in light of the second George Bush's Gulf War, Kirsten thought it fitting to reform the band in order to continue carrying on the message started over a decade ago under astoundingly similar geopolitical circumstances. Since the reformation Naked Aggression has toured the U.S., and just returned from Europe with a new split Lp with, Die Schwarzen Schaffe, on Compary Records. Currently they are working on songs for a new full-length album.

They Can't Get Me Down
Naked Aggression Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Makes me think that I'm insane they can't get me down
I wish people weren't so cruel they can't get me down
So many assholes in this world they can't get me down
Seems most people act the same
I don't know why this can't change
Why can't people just open up
and start to act just like themselves
All my father does is drink they can't get me down
People think that I'm a disgrace they canÕt get me down
I want to punch them all in the face they can't get me down
Seems most people act the same
I don't know why this can't change
Why can't people just open up
and start to act just like themselves
These are the best moments of your life.
Savor each moment be glad to be alive.
Make the most of this time you have left.
You may never have it this good again.
Don't worry you're not alone WE'RE WITH YOU
We understand how you're feeling
Certain people have to follow the rules. BUT WE DON'T
WE CAN THINK FOR OURSELVES
Why do they fuck up my world
I see violence all around me
Bloody wars fought all the time
Business, drug lords, government
they kill us with their crimes
Taking it all for themselves
Leaving nothing left for us
Why do they fuck up my world?
Fucking assholes deserve to die
Hate them all cause they're full of lies
Tell us all that they are right
For our freedom we must fight
DonÕt believe them, they exploit us all
Patriotism will kill us all
You better act now before it's too late
Complacency will seal your fate
100,000 dead in our latest fascist war
Now do you realize what our government stands for?
Don't just watch it on TV
Go out and protest in the streets
Why do they fuck up my world?
Fucking assholes deserve to die
Hate them all cause they're full of lies
Tell us all that they are right
For our freedom we must fight
Don't believe them, they exploit us all
Patriotism will kill us all
You better act now before it's too late
Complacency will seal your fate
Fight, Fight, Fight, Fight, Fight, Fight, Fight, Fight
Fight, Fight, Fight, Fight, Fight, Fight, Fight, FIGHT BACK!
The song "They Can't Get Me Down" by Naked Aggression is a powerful commentary on the struggles of an individual trying to survive in a world of hatred and cruelty. The song starts with the singer expressing the pain and frustration caused by the hatred in their brain, which they perceive as insanity. The singer then goes on to lament the pervasive cruelty in the world and how it seems that most people act the same.
The second part of the song turns its attention to government, business, and drug lords, who the singer believes are exploiting and killing people through their actions. The song urges people to act now before it's too late and to fight back against these oppressive forces. The final chorus is a call for people to fight back against the system, to not believe in the lies that they are told, and to band together to make a change.
This song is a powerful rallying cry against oppression and an anthem for those who feel powerless against systemic oppression. It's a call to action for people to make a difference and to take control of their lives.
