Succumbed to Sarkum Phagum
Necros Christos Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Processum pharaonum ossuario
Ta sat aat - the place to go
Chamber of a million years
The tomb is waiting to be filled

The Ka is bound
To the underworld
Where silence of the tongues
Is the only word
No sun bestows light
Nor the blood's even red
No mountain to hide
It's the land of the dead

The bark is guided by Mehen
The dark has reached the crossing land
The soul is roaming the ancient maze
The body's mouldering in the grave

Dried and embalmed
The king does lay
In his cave while 9 slaves
Do obey
Serving the master in tombish doom
While the mummy's succumbed
To Sarkum Phagum

Succumbed
To Sarkum Phagum

Overall Meaning

The lyrics begin by referencing the Egyptian practice of burying Pharaohs in ossuaries. The ossuary was a place where the mummified body of the Pharaoh would be laid to rest, and the people would come and pay their respects. This place is known as Ta Sat Aat. The tomb in which the Pharaoh lay was supposed to be filled with all of the items and treasures that he would need to make the journey into the afterlife. The chamber in which the Pharaoh lay was called the Chamber of a Million Years. It is important to understand that the ancient Egyptians believed in the concept of an afterlife, and they believed that the Pharaoh had a special connection with the gods.

The second verse talks about the journey that the Pharaoh's soul makes into the underworld. The Ka is the Egyptian concept of the soul, and it was believed to be bound to the body. The underworld was a place of darkness where the only word was the silence of the tongues. There was no sun or light, and the blood was not red. The land of the dead had no mountains to hide in, and it is a place where the Pharaoh's soul would spend eternity.

The final verse describes the Pharaoh's body, which has been dried and embalmed and is now lying in its tomb. Nine slaves are obediently serving their master in tombish doom while the mummy has succumbed to Sarkum Phagum. This phrase is believed to be a reference to a fungal infection that is common in Egypt, and it is known to infect mummies. The phrase "Succumbed to Sarkum Phagum" refers to the fact that the Pharaoh's body is slowly decaying in its tomb.
