Let's Get Started
Nicholson Shane Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You watch a b-grade black and white as your mind works in reverse
If you're feeling brave, let's get started now
Lose our way and the dream will lead us round
Every day is a crash test spinning the world on a fingertip
Offer you a mother's love or a knuckle and a broken lip
So if you're feeling brave, let's get started now
Lose our way and the dream will lead us round
Learn to swim in the fishbowl while you're waiting on a call
And wonder why it takes so long to get nowhere at all
When everyday is a cool faced captain spinning the world on a fingertip
Take you on a glory ride or take you down with the ship
The lyrics of Nicholson Shane's song, Let's Get Started, depict a sense of uncertainty and chaos in life. The metaphorical setting of a room with a single light at the center of the universe implies a feeling of isolation, with an overwhelming sense of the unknown. The singer seems to be lost in their own mind, as they watch a 'b-grade black and white' and feel their mind working in reverse. The situation alludes to the feeling of being stuck, of not being able to move forward, and being unable to make sense of things.
The lyrics are a call for action, a cry for adventure. The singer seeks to break free from the monotony of everyday life, offering that if one is brave enough, they can lose their way and allow their dreams to lead them around. In this sense, the song presents a view of life that is vast and open to exploration, with countless avenues of discovery waiting to be pursued. However, the path is not always clear, and the singer acknowledges that every day is a 'crash test' and that life is often unpredictable, offering either love or violence.
Overall, the lyrics of Let's Get Started by Nicholson Shane can be seen as a journey towards self-discovery and breaking free from the predictable patterns of everyday life. The song encourages stepping out of your comfort zone and following your dreams, even in the face of uncertainty.

Smoke don't rise, fuel don't burn
Sun don't shine no more
Late one night, sorrow come round
Scratching at my door
But I cut my hands and break my back
Dragging this bag of stones
Till they bury me down beneath the ground
With the dust and rattling bones
Left my home and left my love
Caught on a rusty nail
Devil rose up heavy with gold
My soul's not for sale
Then a holy man in a house of God
He offered me a book of prayer
But when I left my home and I left my love
Left my faith back there
Smoke don't rise, fuel don't burn
Sun don't shine no more
Late one night, sorrow come round
Scratching at my door
But I cut my hands and break my back
Dragging this bag of stones
Till they bury me down beneath the ground
With the dust and rattling bones
Shut my eyes and hang my head
Darkness makes no sound
Climb it up, bottom there
Earth's on the way back down
When a sadness falls on the morning bird
Wonder what the day will bring
But I shut my eyes and hang my head
At least that bird can sing
Smoke don't rise, fuel don't burn
Sun don't shine no more
Late one night, sorrow come round
Scratching at my door
But I cut my hands and break my back
Dragging this bag of stones
Till they bury me down beneath the ground
With the dust and rattling bones
Till they bury me down beneath the ground
With the dust and rattling bones

@@ouripad3842 Same hear bud. Interestingly the beat of this piece sounds very much like something from 60s or 70s rock. Have yet to figure it out. Most Rock and bluegrass music got its start in Blues. This one certainly did. JC for sure. CCR, 3 dog night Stones Beatles all used a blues beat. Ya know this has some soggy nottom boys in it as well. But like you guys I ain't big on county. But Chris Issac wicked ways was good as is Blue Monday from fats domino. Music is so cool. Nothing but math really, Math converted to sound.

I'm a rapper and this is one of my favourite songs in 32 years on the planet.

I love the way their voices just perfectly harmonize and that sideways twang of the song. It's like some fusion of bohemian backwoods barefoot country with a timeless quality to it, like they know they're damned, they came from somewhere, trying to go somewhere else, but not in any hurry kind of vibe. Very unique and fresh to my ears.
