Nashville Winter
Nick 13 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sometimes something calls a man to run,
he's gotta leave behind all the comforts of home
and when I heard the music call to me
I said goodbye to the winter sun because I had to leave
Ohh everything that I want is right here
but what I need I cannot get I gotta go somewhere

Round this world I rocked and I have rolled something much I love had a hold on my soul
there were still a place I just had to see and
so I packed my bags and head up on Tennesse
Ohh everything that I want is back there
but what I need I cannot get I gotta go somewhere

In this Nashville winter I'm a thousand miles from home,
I set out in search of something that I had to find alone
Yeah I knew I had to do it because I cannot ever lie,
But I hate this Nashville Winter I'm so lonesome I could die

The beuty of the Nashville winter and now I'm on the way back home,
I set out in search of something that I had to find alone
Yeeah now that I have found it, It's part of my soul through and through

And now that winters done my darling I'll be coming home to you
And now that winters done my darling I'll be coming home to you

Overall Meaning

The song "Nashville Winter" by Nick 13 is about the tumultuous journey of a man who leaves the comfort of his home in search of something more. The opening lines of the song describe a man who feels the urge to leave behind everything he knows and go somewhere far away. The singer acknowledges the fact that he has everything he wants where he is, but he still feels like he needs to go somewhere else to find what he's looking for. The line "I had to leave" implies that this urge to leave home was irresistible and he had no choice but to go.

The second verse of the song details the singer's journey as he travels across the country in search of that elusive something. The line "something much I love had a hold on my soul" signifies that he was chasing a passion or a dream that was deeply ingrained in him. The phrase "packed my bags and head up on Tennesse" highlights the fact that the singer has a specific destination in mind, which is Nashville, Tennessee. He knows that what he's looking for is there, and he's determined to find it.

The chorus of the song talks about the singer's lonely and isolated state during the Nashville winter, a stark contrast to the comfort of his home. He's on his own in a new place, searching for something, and that feeling of loneliness is palpable. In the final verse of the song, the singer has found what he was looking for in Nashville, and he's headed back home to his loved ones. The line "now that I have found it, it's part of my soul through and through" implies that what he was looking for was something essential to his being, and he's now at peace that he's found it.

It's hilariously ironic that the punk rockers that are coming of age are now putting out far more genuine and far BETTER country than anything that those corporate sheep in nashville's music row have touched in almost 20 years with the exception of maybe Jace Everett or Josh Turner and a tiny handful of others. Nick 13, Hillbilly Casino, etc keep it up and the radio stations will have no choice but to take notice.

What of Hank III?

You are so right. They’ve seen some stuff, and they have a quiet wisdom. If I hear another hit with beer and trucks...I swear. It’s a sign of the times. Country used to have a poor guy singing the blues, which is bad for sales and tickets. Now the outcasts are holding down the roots.

You are right, also Hank III puts out badass shit!

I don’t need help to forget it, I knew it was a hoax from the word go so I never acknowledge it in the first place but Nike 13 is certainly worth acknowledging!
