Their early records appeared on labels like Ecstatic Yod and New World of Sound, while singles have been released on Dry Leaf Disks (UK), New World of Sound, and Ecstatic Peace. Their first studio album was Sticks and Stones May Break My Bones but Names Will Never Hurt Me, produced by Jerry Yester (of the Lovin' Spoonful) for John Fahey's Revenant Records after a particular interest on Fahey's part. No-Neck Blues Band Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Isn't that fucking shit?
Now break that routine
There no other chance
Look at your self
You only live once
Let's live like shit
You only lie once
life is all alone
The lyrics to No-Neck Blues Band's song "Untitled" explore themes of monotony, rebellion, and the fleeting nature of life. The opening lines criticize the repetitive and uninteresting routine that many people find themselves trapped in. The songwriter expresses their disdain for this mundane existence, using strong language to emphasize the dissatisfaction. However, they also offer a solution to break free from this monotonous cycle, suggesting that there is a limited opportunity to make a change.
The subsequent lines highlight the sense of urgency in embracing life's unpredictability. The phrase "You only live once" is a reminder that life is short and should be lived to the fullest. The unconventional phrase "Let's live like shit" reflects a rebellious and carefree attitude, encouraging an embrace of unorthodox or unconventional choices. The following line, "You only lie once," could be interpreted as a comment on the dishonesty or deception that can sometimes be present in life. Finally, the phrase "life is all alone" touches on the existential solitude one may feel when confronting the fleeting nature of existence.
In summary, "Untitled" by No-Neck Blues Band is a song that challenges the mundane routines of life and urges listeners to seize the limited opportunities they have. It advocates for a rebellious and adventurous approach to living, highlighting the brevity and ephemeral nature of existence.
