We used to be together
Everyday together always
I really feel
That I'm losing my best friend
I can't believe
This could be the end
It looks as though you're letting go
Well I don't want to know
Don't speak
I know just what you're saying
So please stop explaining
Don't tell me 'cause it hurts
Don't speak
I know what you're thinking
I don't need your reasons
Don't tell me 'cause it hurts
Our memories
Well, they can be inviting
But some are altogether
Mighty frightening
As we die, both you and I
With my head in my hands
I sit and cry
Don't speak
I know just what you're saying
So please stop explaining
Don't tell me 'cause it hurts (no, no, no)
Don't speak
I know what you're thinking
I don't need your reasons
Don't tell me 'cause it hurts
It's all ending
I gotta stop pretending who we are
You and me I can see us dying, are we?
Don't speak
I know just what you're saying
So please stop explaining
Don't tell me 'cause it hurts (no, no, no)
Don't speak
I know what you're thinking
And I don't need your reasons
Don't tell me 'cause it hurts
Don't tell me 'cause it hurts!
I know what you're saying
So please stop explaining
Don't speak
Don't speak
Don't speak
Oh I know what you're thinking
And I don't need your reasons
I know you're good
I know you're good
I know you're real good
Oh, la la la la la la, la la la la la la
Don't, don't, uh-huh hush, hush darlin'
Hush, hush darlin' hush, hush
Don't tell me tell me 'cause it hurts
Hush, hush darlin' hush, hush darlin'
Hush, hush don't tell me tell me 'cause it hurts
The lyrics to No Doubt's "Don't Speak" are about a couple who used to be together every day, but now one of them is letting go and the other is struggling to accept this. The singer is losing her best friend and is in denial about the fact that the relationship may be coming to an end. She doesn't want to hear any explanations because she knows it will only hurt her more. The memories they shared together are still inviting, but also frightening because they remind her of what they used to have and what may now be lost forever. The song ends with the realization that things are ending and the singer admitting that they have to stop pretending and face reality.

Does anybody ever just get tired of today's music and find them selves going on a old music rampage.
@anthonypoole6106
Yes
@Melt3r996
I can’t stand popular music
@T.F.O3
Did you put this comment on every old song 🤔
@jony6907
Ok boomer
@geminikb
Omg all the time. I’m 44 and have favorites from the 60s, 70s, 80s,
90s that rock my world. I was in my 20s when this song came out. Don’t think we had smart phones just yet. I swear the advent of
smart phones, in my life, is a before/after marker of the times. This song is very nostalgic for me.
@miamitten1123
Call me crazy, but Don’t Speak is one of the best songs of all time. Genuinely ageless. Plus I love the guitar solo.
