Considered to be one of Australia's more successful rock bands of the late 1980s, their self-titled debut in 1987 had a series of successful singles, such as "No Lies," "Take Me Back," and "Welcome to the World." The band's second album, 1989's Touch, proved to be less successful commercially. Noiseworks disbanded in 1992, shortly after the release of the group's third album, Love Versus Money (1991).
Stevens has forged a successful solo career since Noiseworks with the albums Circle and Ain't No Life For The Faint Hearted. He went on to become the lead singer of INXS, but left after when he became frustrated with the band's lack of progress in generating new material.
2012 - The Band are in the studio recording a new album and touring later this year!

Take You Higher
Noiseworks Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
(Ooh, yeah)
Music getting longer too
Music is the fashion beat
I want to, I want to
I want to take you higher
I want to take you higher, yeah
Huh, I wanna take you higher
Boom, chugga, lugga, lugga
Boom, chugga, lugga, lugga
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Beat is nitty gritty
(Uh-huh-huh, yeah)
Sound is in your city too
Music still the fashion beat
Don't, don't, don't, you wanna get higher
Yeah, whoo!
I want to take you higher
Baby, baby, baby light my fire, whoo!
I wanna take you higher, ah...
Boom, chugga, lugga, lugga
Boom, chugga, lugga, lugga
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Whoo!
Higher, higher
Higher, higher
Beat is there to make you move
(Make you move, yeah)
Sound is there to help you groove
Music still the fashion beat
Take your places
I want to take you higher
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I want to take you higher
Baby, baby, baby light my fire, whoo!
I wanna take you
Hi-hi-hi-hi-hi-hi-hi-higher
I take you, I take you
Higher, higher...
The lyrics to Noiseworks's song Take You Higher express the desire to achieve a higher state of being through the power of music. The beat is getting stronger and the music is getting longer as the singer urges the listener to let go and allow themselves to be taken higher. The repetition of the phrase "I want to take you higher" emphasizes this desire and creates a sense of urgency.
The lyrics also suggest a connection between music and fashion, with music being described as the "fashion beat". This could be interpreted as a commentary on the way that music and fashion are both used to express oneself and create a sense of identity. The nitty gritty beat and sound that are mentioned suggest a raw and primal energy that is essential to the music.
Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of excitement and urgency about the power of music to take us to a higher place. The repetition of the phrase "Boom, chugga, lugga, lugga" adds to the sense of energy and excitement, and the repeated "higher, higher" at the end of the song emphasizes the desire to reach this elevated state.
