Spirits
Nothing More Lyrics

Spirits come through
Swim up to my head
Make old things new
It's a little bit heavenly
A little bit sick
I don't feel quite like myself
In my head too many days
In a room I can't escape
Turning into someone else
It's killing me
Something's in the way
Something has to change
It's killing me
Silence in the heart
Sickness in the brain
Now I know
This bend in my back
From the weight on my soul
Been lookin' at the world with one eye closed
A little bit heavenly
A little bit sick
And the side effects of shit I've stepped in
Side effects of truth I'm left with
A spinning room I can't escape
There has to be another way
I'm still stuck inside myself
It's killing me
Something's in the way
Something has to change
It's killing me
Silence in the heart
Sickness in the brain
Now I know
This bend in my back
From the weight on my soul
Been lookin' at the world with one eye closed
A little bit heavenly
A little bit sick
Spirits come through
Make old things new
Spirits fool you
Lie down, see through
Spirits fool you
Slip right through your hands
Old tricks turn you
It's a little bit make-believe
A little bit true
Weeds in the garden
Snakes in the soul
Every day passin'
They grow, they grow
And they grow
The smoke in my lungs
The fire on my tongue
Spirits make me warm
When my heart is not enough
When it gets so numb
It's a little bit obvious (stumble in my step)
(The long gap between breaths)
A little unclear (stumble in my step)
(The long gap between breaths)
It's a little bit obvious (stumble in my step)
(The long gap between breaths)
A little sincere (stumble in my step)
(The long gap between breaths)
It's a little bit obvious (stumble in my step)
(The long gap between breaths)
A little unclear (stumble in my step)

The lyrics to Nothing More's song "SPIRITS" convey a sense of internal struggle and the desire for transformation. The opening lines, "Lie down, come to / Spirits come through / Swim up to my head / Make old things new," suggest a plea for some kind of spiritual or emotional intervention to bring about a positive change. The singer feels trapped within their own mind, playing with their own health and desperately seeking an escape. They express a feeling of disconnect from their true self and a fear of turning into someone else, which is taking a toll on them.
The chorus emphasizes the overwhelming weight of this internal battle, where the singer acknowledges that something needs to change before it completely consumes them. They describe a silence in the heart and a sickness in the brain, signifying a deep emotional pain and mental turmoil. The metaphor of a bend in the back from the weight on the soul illustrates the heavy burden they carry. The phrase "been lookin' at the world with one eye closed" suggests a limited perspective or inability to fully engage with life.
The bridge further explores the side effects of the struggles the singer faces. It highlights the negative consequences of the truth they have encountered and the difficulty in escaping from the spinning room of their thoughts. They long for another way, feeling trapped and stagnant. The repetition of "spirits come through / make old things new" reinforces the desire for a transformative experience.
Overall, the lyrics of "SPIRITS" express a cry for help and a yearning for change amidst internal battles and a sense of being stuck in a stagnant state.

Necrotic Reaper
This band never disappoints. How they are not one of the biggest rock bands rn, I'll never know.

Wrong ERA. They are most definitely the best that's doin it right now. Live and recording. But if ur not pop music these days u just don't get the same attention from the media.
Lunaryx Gaming
@tr3boR McCyDaDDy999 That really hasn't changed much in the past 20 to 30 years. It's called pop for a reason. But yes, they are definitely one of the better rock bands.
ptr_does_music
The fact that this single is so overlooked is A CRIME. But quite understandable since it's both heavy and experimental. Average listener can't handle either of that.. they just want watered down radio rock anthems.
Biased Gamers
They also speak too much truth. I love how they have Alan Watts in most of their albums.
Jay Greenstar
This music is making a come back. The 90โs kids, kids are growing up.

This song could be about any addiction or mental illness. Amazing
Nocturnal Metal Wolf
That bass groove right after he says, " a little bit sick" gets me going everytime.
Christopher Engler
Such a powerful depiction of not only alcoholism, but substance abuse as a whole, showing not only why people fall into it, but what it gives AND takes away. A true double edged sword. Definitely one of my favorite songs from them, right alongside Funny Little Creatures and This Is The Time. Instrumentals, lyrics, and vocals were on point, especially that last scream ๐ค
SoundOfMadness
The last screams hit different, sounds like Jonnyโs been experimenting with his vocals!
