With their unique style of psychedelic garage and a mix of R&B, Okamoto's have been likened to The Rolling Stones, The Who and The Stooges.
Okamoto's come with a message, barely 19 and they already have the fire and passion to take over the world questioning the forefathers of Rock itself. They do not simply know, but have the courage to ask Bob Dylan if in fact " The times have actually changed" and of course still maintain the punk rock mentality in asking why are they not learning about rock in school. They have the guts of fearless teenagers, scaring us one adult at a time. Live shows that make the blood curdle at the fact that they have only just graduated from high school, the old are afraid, the young are eating it up. They really are a horrifying band!
June of 2009 saw them release their debut album "Here are Okamoto's" and with over 100 live shows under their belt, Okamoto's are going to just get better and scarier with every step they take. So get on that "Rocket to Japan" because everyone is going to wanna dance with these guys

The lyrics of OKAMOTO'S's song "美しい" (Utsukushii, meaning "Beautiful") reflect a unique perspective on beauty and individuality. The opening lines express a desire for a refined form of "kuso" (a vulgar term used to describe something unsatisfactory or worthless). The lyrics emphasize that even a wonderful version of worthlessness is still preferable. The repetition of "出てこい出てこない" (Dete koi, Dete konai, meaning "Come out, don't come out") implies a conflict between wanting to conform and having a rebellious spirit.
The repetition of "だけどそれはクソだ 同じさ" (Dakedo sore wa kuso da, onajisa, meaning "But that's also worthless, it's the same") emphasizes the idea that everyone is essentially the same, and their desires for different types of worthlessness or beauty are ultimately futile. The lyrics seem to suggest that regardless of whether one strives for elegance or novelty, the underlying essence remains unchanged.
Continuing on the theme of superficiality, the lyrics question the idea of a "perfect" form of worthlessness, suggesting that it may be the end or the conclusion. This notion is juxtaposed with the desire for the "greatest" form of worthlessness, potentially indicating that even reaching the peak of something unsatisfactory leads to an inevitable ending.
The lyrics then shift to a more hopeful tone, expressing a desire to fly away and experience a world unseen. The urge to dance meaninglessly in a place where one is drawn hints at a longing for freedom and a desire to escape the constraints of societal expectations. The repetition of "あぁ 飛んで行けばいい" (Ah, tonde ikeba ii, meaning "Ah, it'd be great if I could fly away") emphasizes the yearning for liberation and exploration.
The song concludes with a final repetition of the phrase "まぶしい" (Mabushii, meaning "bright" or "dazzling"). This repetition underscores the visual impact of the song's message and suggests that there is beauty or brilliance to be found in embracing one's individuality, even in a world where everyone is essentially the same. Overall, the lyrics of "美しい" challenge societal norms and celebrate the unique expression of self.
