With their unique style of psychedelic garage and a mix of R&B, Okamoto's have been likened to The Rolling Stones, The Who and The Stooges.
Okamoto's come with a message, barely 19 and they already have the fire and passion to take over the world questioning the forefathers of Rock itself. They do not simply know, but have the courage to ask Bob Dylan if in fact " The times have actually changed" and of course still maintain the punk rock mentality in asking why are they not learning about rock in school. They have the guts of fearless teenagers, scaring us one adult at a time. Live shows that make the blood curdle at the fact that they have only just graduated from high school, the old are afraid, the young are eating it up. They really are a horrifying band!
June of 2009 saw them release their debut album "Here are Okamoto's" and with over 100 live shows under their belt, Okamoto's are going to just get better and scarier with every step they take. So get on that "Rocket to Japan" because everyone is going to wanna dance with these guys

These lyrics from OKAMOTO'S's song "Kill Dreams" tell a story about the struggles and disillusionment associated with chasing dreams in life.
The first stanza describes the singer running through the city at night, feeling confident and believing that they can go anywhere. They mention listening to music through their headphones, specifically mentioning the line "Now I wanna be your dog," which could represent a desire to have a sense of freedom and loyalty. The singer expresses their belief that everything they love can be loved by everyone else, but acknowledges that even a miracle from a higher power would not make that happen. They feel a lack of understanding and connection with others, but still continue reaching out, hoping to eventually share the same dreams.
In the chorus, they express a realization that they were wrong to believe they could share dreams with others, and they implore themselves and others to "kill dreams." This could be interpreted as a metaphor for giving up on one's aspirations or realizing that their dreams may not come true. The repetition of "Come on come on come on" further emphasizes the urgency and determination in letting go of these dreams before they become overwhelming.
In the second stanza, the singer recalls a significant moment in their life when they saw a live performance by Iggy Pop at the age of 22. Despite feeling that it was an authentic and powerful experience, they are confused and disappointed by the apathy and coldness they perceive in those around them. They express their frustration with society's preference for sentimental stories and tear-jerking narratives, as they feel they are waiting for their passions and dreams to decay. They are tired and exasperated, questioning whether others are sleeping or dead, and offer to wake them up and invite them to join in living their dreams.
The chorus is repeated again, emphasizing the theme of killing dreams. The repetition of this phrase suggests a growing determination to let go of these aspirations before they consume and disappoint them completely. The final line of the song, "Kill dreams!" is a direct call to action, urging themselves and others to let go of their dreams and move forward. This song explores the conflicting emotions and challenges associated with pursuing dreams, ultimately expressing a sense of frustration and the need to relinquish those dreams in order to find a path forward.
