Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Rubber Soul (a beatle song)

Moving on against the wind
Spending my time very slow
I don't carry any hope or sins
I don´t have anywhere to go

Time always calls me, life gets mad
But I don't really give a damn
Nothing in my pockets, nothing in my hands
I just keep what life brings

CHORUS (X 2)

The sun warming the soul of kiddos
The sea kissin' the skin of chicks
Dancing in the blue whirlwind of the sky

---- INSTRUMENTAL ----

I don't really want to stop the show
I’m looking for Lucy in The sky
I lost my Rubber Soul in Mexico
Oh, baby, gimme a Ticket to Ride

'Cause today I am what I do
And also what I refuse to do
I didn't leave my past behind
I only keep what life brings

CHORUS (X 2)
The sun warming the soul of kiddos
The sea kissin' the skin of chicks
Dancing in the blue whirlwind of the sky

---- HARMONICA SOLO -----

'Cause today I am what I do
And also what I refuse to do
I didn't leave my past behind
I only keep what life brings

CHORUS (X 2)
The sun warming the soul of kiddos
The sea kissin' the skin of chicks
Dancing in the blue whirlwind of the sky

CODA
My babe don't care.........

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Rubber Soul" by The Beatles reflect the sentiments of a restless and free-spirited person who is content with living in the moment and embracing whatever life has in store for them. The song opens with the singer indicating that they are moving against the wind and spending their time slowly without any specific purpose or intention. They do not carry any burdens or regrets with them, and they are willing to see where life takes them. Despite the chaos of life, the singer is unfazed and unbothered by it all, as they sing, "But I don't really give a damn."

In the chorus, the singer describes the blissful nature of life through imagery of the sun warming the soul of children, the sea kissing the skin of young women, and dancing in the blue whirlwind of the sky. The instrumental and harmonica solos give the listener a chance to reflect upon these images and appreciate the beauty of life. The singer then sings about his longing for "Lucy in the sky" and his lost "Rubber Soul" in Mexico, before ending with the plea for a "Ticket to Ride."

Overall, "Rubber Soul" portrays a carefree and optimistic outlook that emphasizes living in the present moment and embracing the beauty of life.

Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
– The Beatles -

Desmond has a barrow
in the market place
Molly is the singer in a band

Desmond says to Molly
“girl I like your face”
And Molly says this
as she takes him by the hand

Ob-la-di ob-la-da
life goes on bra
La-la how the life goes on
….

Desmond takes a trolley
to the jewellers stores
Buys a twenty carat golden ring
(Golden ring?)

Takes it back to
Molly waiting at the door
And as he gives it
to her she begins
to sing (Sing)

Ob-la-di ob-la-da
life goes on bra
La-la how the life goes on
….
yeah (No)

in a couple of years
they have built
A home sweet home

With a couple of kids
running in the yard
Of Desmond and Molly Jones
(Ah ha ha ha ha ha)

Happy ever after
in the market place
Desmond lets the children
lend a hand (Arm! Leg!)

Molly stays at home
and does her pretty face
And in the evening
she still sings it
with the band

Yes, ob-la-di ob-la-da
life goes on bra
La-la how the life goes on
(Ha ha ha)
….

In a couple of years
they have built
A home sweet home

With a couple of kids
running in the yard
Of Desmond and Molly Jones
(Ha ha ha ha ha)

Yeah, happy ever after
in the market place
Molly lets the children
lend a hand (Foot!)

Desmond stays at home
and does his pretty face
And in the evening
she’s a singer
with the band

Yeah, ob-la-di ob-la-da
life goes on bra
La-la how the life goes on
….

And if you want some fun
Take ob-la-di ob-la-da

(Thank you, uh, ha ha ha!)

"John Lennon came to the session really stoned, totally out of it on something or other, and he said, ‘All right, we’re gonna do Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da. He went straight to the piano and smashed the keys with an almighty amount of volume, twice the speed of how they’d done it before, and said, ‘This is it! Come on!’ He was really aggravated. That was the version they ended up using."

@jentepaelinck8576

This is what we need, good songs with ONLY the piano part and not with a vocal part also played on the piano,
Thanks man good job!

@omeganave7425

Unless you sing along!

@devon1485

it may not sound right without it, but once you sing along, then its so much better than with the vocals incorporated into the piano. This is how it was originally played, and it sounds so much better without the vocals into the piano

@ahrimzhorc

Fr, we really needed these
I get kinda annoyed when the singing part is added

@benpietrzykowski9216

You do know any chord progression ever created is free on YouTube? Shouldn’t need to rely on YouTube videos for that part

@samcompany7083

The only song where I only have to listen to the first 5 seconds to become happy
