Quick Question
Do you know the answer to this?
You are standing 60 ft from a building and to view the very top of the building requires you to look up at an angle of 60°. What is the height of the building to the nearest whole number?
General hint: this is a trig problem and can be solved using one of the following: Sine, Cosine, or Tangent.

@Ewan Hunter On the right hand side of the equation there's one 'h' and on the left hand side of the equation there 0.575 of an 'h'. He then minused 0.575h from both sides.
Left side: 0.575h -0.575h = 0
Right side: 1h-0.575h = 0.425h
A simpler version of the same equation:
$10 + 0.5apple = 1apple ( minus 0.5apple from both sides)
$10 = 0.5apple (then divide both sides by 0.5 because any number divided by itself = 1)
$20 = 1apple
Damn, that's quite an expensive apple. Anyway, I hope this helped

I'm in school and have to learn this, but my teacher is horrible at explanations. You really saved me here, thank you!

Remember bro, 11 yrs ago, you were in school, is everything nice today in your life, is their any serious problem? How is future you

@Schazaa i agree, law of sines is easier. but i am trying to make a trig playlist, and i have not covered law of sines yet. the point is, you can do it in a 'more basic' way : )

thanks so much man, it really helped me. Even when I did not know the value of the base of the triangle, I only new that the second base was x-250ft. Thanks!!!

Just use tangents and algebra to get the general expression h = (distance between the points * tan a * tan b) / (tan a – tan b), where a and b are the angles. To use and learn trig properly, you shouldn't be getting the numerical results until the final calculation. (The law of sines also makes for a bit of a quicker way through the algebra.)

could you elaborate further? im trying to understand but cant seem to get it

The way you did this was bewildering. It's much easier and efficient to figure out the angles of the left triangle, use the law of Sines to determine the hypotenuse, then finally use sine(15)=height/ hypotenuse as your final equation. I'm guessing that you also get a more accurate answer that way. I got 25.20m as my final answer.
