@Kevin B I personally highly disagree, I believe that it shouldn't matter what happens in a NON cannon story compared to the real cannon one. Just because something in a fake story is revealed first then the event in real story doesn't take away all of the hype and suspense. Unless Oda makes the 2 extremely similar/predictitable which I doubt because we know Oda, he isn't gonna make a mistake like that. So the only real possible way for the hype to be ruined is if the viewer doesn't enjoy it, which in that case is a YOU problem, not Oda. Because if say the first event in the fake story was to you better then the on in the real story, then that's on you because that's how you feel;it's your preference, and if the event in the fake story never happened but the one in the real story did but to you was bad, then once again. That's on you because it's your preference;your opinion. It's like saying "oh why didn't Oda use the event from the movie, the one from it was way better then this" if you liked the event from the movie vs if the event from the movie never happened "ugh why did Oda make this event like this, it doesn't make since and makes it soo bad and reminds of me of that one chapter in the end of AOT". But it's my preference and you have yours in the end of the day.

considering that we know now that luffy is the warrior of liberation at heart, I am guessing she is forced to, by the main villain ~~or maybe even the marines~~ to follow her desire to go look for her father, Shanks. Luffy does not approve of her submitting to some external force being the deciding factor for her choice not to go after shanks, and will fight with her, and then FOR her, so she could finally have the willpower to reunite with her father and fulfill her own will.

Shanks can't be in it that much. He just can't. Luffy meeting Shanks for the first time in decades CANNOT happen in a non Canon movie. I do hope we get Canon backstory though. Uta like Shiki. Canon but the movie isn't. Flashbacks are but not current stuff.

Edit: unless somehow Luffy and Shanks meet in the Manga before August. That happens all bets are off.

If you can differentiate both experiences so well in your mind that it feels completely fresh and separate and doesn't ruin the emotional impact of the moment that has been set up since the beginning of the story, then more power to you.

But why should that matter in a NON cannon movie and NOT true in the real storyline, so why can't Oda just do it how he plans to in the movie but then let it be something completely different. "There exists no peace or queality in this world" Its a factual statement, this is the Age of Pirates where people are ruled by tyrants and only violence sets you free. There is nothing of his ideology here, Shanks is simply telling his daughter the world is cruel and you gotta prepare for it. Actually a very usefull thing to say to a kid. I don't know, if Oda connects someone to a major character then that character is usually canon even if the film they debut in is not. I mean look at Shiki, who walks the high wire of being both canon and non-canon because Episode 0 actually takes place in the manga timeline while all of Strong World is not. Shiki is even referred to.
The one that throws me is Douglas Bullet to be honest. That bastard is actually in the animated version of Episode 0 and isn't with the crew at Laugh Tale in the Oden flashback.

Why do I feel like this movie is going to cry... We've never seen a character Shanks remotely considers his family (other than his crew). Even his relationship with Luffy is different by comparison.
Shanks gave up his arm because he has faith Luffy will change the world and do great things. Meanwhile he essentially tells Uta, "It doesn't matter what you do. You will always be my daughter." It just hits different...

Anime Episode 519... Listen to the opening.
Rewatching when luffy sets off for new world and when listening to the opening...the hints about luffy and sungod is mad. The way his gear 3 looked way larger when to destroyed the ship one shot, and seemed easier that what we normally see. To the lyrics "the sun of my heart will never set'.. and the drumming towards the end with the lyrics 'one, two, sunshine' could of been hints for luffy restarting his heart beat.

So first off I wonder if Uta is his biological daughter or someone Shanks adopted as his daughter. Say a child Shanks saved in paradise, and then left somewhere safe before or early into the new world. I also think it is still too early to say shanks wont be that involved in the movie. I'd be surprised if Shanks is her actual biological father. It could be the case that they just have a bond like father and daughter. But yeah I'd be surprised if Oda dropped such a big part of Shanks' backstory/character in a movie, before he even shows Shanks and the rest of the Redhaired crew in any detail in the manga.

They basically just put some names to faces that we've seen, gave a small bit of detail on how big a fleet Shanks has, and the strength of his main executives. That is not a major part of any of their backstories, and is info that Oda probably wouldn't have got round to releasing in the manga later on, because it's so relatively unimportant to the main narrative. Especially when it's going to be end game time when Shanks and his crew enter the story fully. Come back when the movie comes out, and perhaps your premature lmfao will be at least partially justified.

I think we might see a certain nika in the movie. By august, we’ll be at chapter 1057-1058 and the fight against Kaido will definitely be over. So this movie can be set in a post-wano ish timeline, (like gold was after dressrossa but was not a part of the main timeline) let’s all pray that we get to see gear 5.

I still have little to zero interest to see this movie. All seems to be zero cannon material. I will only have a somewhat of an interest if his daughter is mentioned anywhere in the current Wano arc. After the awakened hito hito no mi mythical Sun God devil fruit( gumu gomu no mi) Luffy vs Kiado battle I hope to get information on Shanks as hinted by Oda.

I don't like the fact that they're catering to another female lead in a movie (that nobody really cares about after 1000+ chapters) which seems to be the trend in this society nowadays as well as the fact this isn't a full fledged Shanks-centered movie. They better not spoil Luffy and Shanks' reunion through this movie though, that'll be the worst.

This could be like Shiki, he’s canon but not in the movie. Who knows, maybe Oda plan to give shanks a daughter from the very beginning and she’s part of the reason why Shanks acted the way he did. Full with mysterious but calculated moves.

Uta grew up without her Shanks dad, somehow found out that Shanks is involved with Luffy / that Luffy is seemingly of importance to him, became jealous, lures the straw hats to the concert to defeat them and "get Shanks back".
Understandable, easy. In Addition to that she has a Sound-Sound devil fruit, that she is at the border of awakening, and threatens to expose some kind of plot relevant secret to the whole world ( "broadcasting" with the fruits power ) which would really piss of the WG, bad.

Edit: But looking at the Subtitles for Luffy, it could imply Uta has conquerors. Other than that a significant but "in-shadows" character could be both Blackbeard[Teach] and/or Shanks
