N'Goma was first exposed to music by his father, a teacher and harmonium player. Although he took his first music lessons when he was eight years old, he began performing for audiences after moving to Libreville to attend school. While taking classes in accounting, he joined the Capo Sound, the school band, where he learned to play guitar. The group played at formal dances and balls, teaching N'Goma the art of performing on stage.
N'Goma was a poor student, devoting himself to music and cinema instead of his classwork. His love of film lead to a job with Gabon TV, who sent him to France in 1988 where he was trained as a cameraman. While spending a winter in Paris, he finished work on music he'd written in Gabon. He shared his music with Manu Lima, a well-known record producer for African music. Lima was impressed with the young man's work, and handled the artistic direction of N'Goma's first record Bane.
The album enjoyed modest success at first, until an African radio station began to play his songs. The title track scored large success in Africa, France, and the French West Indies, and continues to rank as a party anthem in those areas. It enjoys success comparable to Mario by Franco or Yeke Yeke by Mory Kante. The album is one of the best-selling African albums to date.
N'Goma released a second album, Adia in December of 1995, again working with Manu Lima. Five years later, his third album Seva debuted. A greatest hits complation, Best of Oliver N'Goma was released in 2004.

Which helps to live and to support the frustructions of this world.
This day there a many sufferings will become blurred
My injury heart will heal
I look for the heart to be taken
I waiting for someone who will be everything for me.
Only to me.
May God make that this wait a brief
In Oliver N'Goma's song Ngebe, the singer expresses his anticipation for the right time and the right person to come into his life. He talks about his hope and the strength it gives him to survive the trials of the world. While acknowledging the sufferings he has experienced, N'Goma sings about the healing power of love and the possibility of finding someone who will be everything to him. With a heart full of longing, N'Goma waits for the one who will take his heart and make his wait worthwhile. He ends by praying for this wait to be brief and for God to bring the right person into his life soon.
The lyrics of N'Goma's Ngebe tell a universal story of the search for love and companionship. The song's melody and rhythm are characteristic of the Gabonese style of music known as soukous, which is distinguished by its fast-paced, upbeat rhythms and lively guitar solos. The song was released in 1997 and became an instant hit in Africa and beyond, earning N'Goma international recognition. Sadly, N'Goma passed away in 2010, but Ngebe remains a beloved classic that continues to inspire and touch people's hearts.

Tu les as tous sacrifiés
Pour suivre les biens
Aujourd'hui tu te rends compte que
L'enfant est un trésor
Les biens que tu gardes
Te donneront d'autres enfants
Pleures bien (bis )
C'est toi même qui les a jeté
C'est toi qui les a sacrifié
Ah...eh...
Ouh. ..ouh. ...
C'est toi même qui les a sacrifié
Souffres maintenant
C'est toi même qui les a jeté (sacrifié ).
