Summer loving happened so fast
I met a girl crazy for me
Met a boy cute as can be
Summer days drifting away to oh oh the summer nights
Tell me more, tell me more
Did you get very far
Like does he have a car
She swam by me she got a cramp
He ran by me got my suit damp
I saved her life she nearly drowned
He showed off splashing around
Summer sun somethings begun but oh oh the summer nights
Tell me more, tell me more
Was it love at first sight?
Tell me more, tell me more
Did she put up a fight?
Took her bowling in the arcade
We went strolling drank lemonade
We made out under the dock
We stayed out till 10 o'clock
Summer fling don't mean a thing but oh oh the summer nights.
Tell me more, tell me more
But you don't gotta brag
Tell me more, tell me more
Cause he sounds like a drag
He got friendly holding my hand
She got friendly down in the sand
He was sweet just turned eighteen
Well she was good you know what I mean
Summer heat boy and girl meet but oh oh the summer nights.
Tell me more, tell me more
How much dough did he spend?
Tell me more, tell me more
Could she get me a friend?
It turned colder that's where it ends
So I told her we'd still be friends
Then we made our true love vow
Wonder what she's doing now
Summer dreams ripped at the seams but oh those summer nights
The song "Summer Nights" is a duet sung between the characters of Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) and Danny (John Travolta) from the 1978 musical film Grease. The song is sung after a summer romance between the two characters, with each character recalling the events of the summer from their own perspective. The lyrics evoke a sense of nostalgia for the carefree and romantic days of summer. The repetition of the phrase "oh oh the summer nights" creates a dreamy, wistful tone, while the back-and-forth dialogue between the characters adds a playful and flirty element to the song.
The lyrics of "Summer Nights" touch on many classic themes of summer romances such as love at first sight, flirting, making out, and spending long nights together. The song explores the different perspectives of Sandy and Danny, highlighting their different experiences with the summer romance. While Danny brags about his escapades, Sandy seems to be more reserved and hesitant to divulge personal information. Despite their differences, the song still conveys a sense of connection between the two characters. The song ends on a sad note, as it becomes clear that their summer love has ended and "ripped at the seams."

In 70s she was every young guys dream.she was beautiful inside and out.wonderful.xx
@sortiz171
Watching this after she has passed as well and appreciating that when they recorded this she was older and John Travolta clearly seemed to have lost his range or maybe pretended to be singing back in the 70s but she still had hers so even though John Travolta is trying trying his hardest to keep up and failing she brings it all the way up to a gorgeous ending
❤️🙏

The song is timeless. These guys are real performers. They still sound good together.

Yup.
@GlobalAirlineEnthusiast
It’s timeless as Glee used it in a 2012 setting also set near bleachers with guys weathering leather coats.
