the bands history. The band creates a space where diverse sounds blend into a singular musical
force. Driving and aggressive, yet gentle in spirit, there is an epic grace that stokes the fires burning
brightly from within Opus Däi. Drawing on influences from Led Zeppelin and Jeff Buckley to Pink
Floyd and The Mars Volta, Opus Däi weaves a broad musical tapestry, painting a picture with
superlative musicianship and beautifully crafted songs. This is the hallmark of the newly formed,
yet years in the making, Los Angeles based band.
After releasing a five-song EP entitled "Actum Procul" (recorded live at the Roxy Theatre in West
Hollywood) Opus Däi quickly became a must-see live band with a diverse and loyal following,
having played over 500 live shows and having shared the stage with System of a Down, Dredg,
Linkin Park, Fair to Midland, The Apex Theory and Sevendust to name just a few.
Touring relentlessly for nearly 2 years in support of their debut LP "Tierra Tragame" the band
finally returned home in fall of 2007, eager to work on new material. However due to rising tension
between members and growing musical differences, the band parted ways with long time vocalist
Chris Paul Basso and touring newbie Ryan Collier. Where this might appear as a major set back to
some, Opus Däi quickly charged forward. In less then one year, Opus Däi not only rebuilt the band,
they wrote an entire new set of material, recorded and released a new EP and toured the entire West
Coast... Twice! - All within one years time!
The newest 2008 release "Touch The Sun" (Produced, Recorded and Mixed by Jun Murakawa)
marks the 1st effort from Opus Däi since their debut LP "Tierra Tragame" in 2006. The new 5 song
EP was also the first release to feature singer Tim Neighbors along with founding members Atsushi
Miyamoto and Jagger Gonzales. In September of 2009, Opus Dai welcomed Bass Virtuoso Michael
Adams to the band. With a new line up you can certainly expect some surprises on this effort. But
you can also be assured that this EP is a natural progression of everything Opus Däi is known and
loved for: innovative, thought provoking and dynamic music, delivered with an intensity that
always captivates.
Opus Däi is currently working on new material and is expected to release a new full length Album
in the coming year.

Knock me down, start the count down.
Found a love and she's fading fast.
1, 2, 3, tick tock clock.
Stop the time bomb, cause this moment is our last.
Take my had. Lets tear it all to the ground.
Take my hand. Lets watch it all fall down.
On and off. hit the button, hit the kill switch on my heart.
Take my hand.
Lets tear it all to the ground.
Take my hand.
Lets watch it all fall down.
We had our chance, to make it right, now its gone, and the worlds falling down on us now.
Its our time, to start over.
Light the match, and stand back as it burns to the ground.
Take my hand. Lets tear it all to the ground.
Take my hand. Lets watch it all fall down.
The song Sandcastles by Opus Dai is a deep reflection on a relationship that is falling apart. The song begins with the lyrics "Build it up" suggesting that the relationship was once strong and built on a solid foundation. However, the next line "Knock me down, start the countdown" suggests that the relationship is failing and coming apart. The singer has found love, but it is fading fast, and they are now running out of time to save the relationship before it falls apart completely.
The lyrics "1, 2, 3, tick tock clock. Stop the time bomb, cause this moment is our last" suggest urgency and a desire to save the relationship before it explodes and falls apart. The singer wants to hold onto the relationship and save it from destruction. However, with lines like "hit the kill switch on my heart" and "push and shoving and I'm tumbling, take you all down as I fall," it is clear that the relationship is in danger and could be destructive for both parties involved.
The chorus serves as a reminder of what once was and what could have been. "We had our chance, to make it right, now it's gone, and the worlds falling down on us now. It's our time, to start over. Light the match, and stand back as it burns to the ground," suggests that the relationship is no longer salvageable, and it's time to move on.
