opening
Oregon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Não tema as sombras
Fora do caixão sombrio
Como a boneca nasceu
Seu corpo é vermelho e frio
Seu coração é aliviado e invocado pela escuridão
Eu sinto a frieza de tuas mãos
Eu estou cravando minhas unhas sangrentas em você
Então desaprove-me
Destruir
Nossa conclusão final
Com os mistérios que continuam à frente
Ao invés de morrer todos vazios
Com minhas asas e pernas arrancadas
Há um outro eu
Quem ama dolorosamente alguém
Certo, qual de nós
É uma invenção da imaginação?
The lyrics of Oregon's song "Opening" invite the listener to open their eyes and remove the inner darkness. The second line encourages the listener not to fear the shadows. The next verse describes the birth of a doll outside of a dark coffin. The doll's body is cold and red, and its heart is soothed and invoked by darkness. The third verse describes a confrontation between the singer and the listener. The singer senses the coldness of the listener's hands and is clawing them with bloody nails. The last verse asks whether the listener is the one loving someone painfully or if it is just their imagination.
The lyrics of "Opening" seem to address the theme of confronting inner demons and fears. The idea of opening one's eyes and removing the inner darkness suggests overcoming inner struggles and confronting them head-on. The appearance of the doll outside of a dark coffin could represent the emergence of something new and positive from a dark and negative situation. The idea of clawing the listener's hands with bloody nails could symbolize a struggle and confrontation with oneself or with someone else.
To summarize, the lyrics of Oregon's "Opening" seem to address the theme of confronting inner struggles and fears, emerging from negativity into positivity, and the struggle of love and imagination.

the opening with the flag flying until they start the gameday program intro is my favorite minute in all of tv history. so proud to be a Coug alum and this just makes it even sweeter. GO COUGS!

Not a Coug alum, but this opening is just beautiful. Gameday really went all out to appreciate and showcase Wazzu. That opening shot with having The Godfather Tom Pounds to begin the broadcast was perfect, and that intro gives me chills. From "It started with a flag..." to "Fifteen years they have waited for this moment!" ESPN really went all-out.

I didnt attend WSU, (CWU Alum) but I am a life long resident of Washington state. Yes, this is a hard earned reward to the Coug faithful, however this was something all of Washington could/should be proud of. The nation is slowly cranking their necks up to the Pacific Northwest. They are starting to see that even though we live way out in the middle of nowhere, our sports fans and programs are anything but rural.
