Despite the apparent calmness or stillness, there may be something troubling or negative lurking

An expensive and calculated display of publicity and attention

Gaining temporary happiness or pleasure from superficial or sensationalized news stories

Cos they're feeding me a slogan that's punchy and snappy
Providing a simple and memorable message to attract attention

And when I look inside I never get tense
Feeling calm and relaxed within oneself

Cos it tells me what I want to hear bout the world events
Being comfortable with hearing only what aligns with one's preconceived notions or beliefs

The just war is the latest trend
War and conflict are being viewed as a popular and fashionable idea

But let this good thing come to an end
Hoping that the trend of war and conflict can stop

And tell me a little more about your new world order
Asking for more information or details about a proposed new way of organizing and governing the world

Does this mean your gonna open up your border?
Questioning whether there will be more freedom and acceptance for people from different countries and cultures

Open up your heart, open up your mind,
Encouraging openness and acceptance towards others and new ideas

Eradicate the poverty you left behind?
Advocating for the elimination of poverty that still exists

Open up your job to the last Mohican
Creating job opportunities for those who may be overlooked or underrepresented

Open up the hospital you closed last week?
Reopening closed healthcare facilities to provide more access to medical care for people

And then, if so, you can open up your Stock exchange in Moscow
If the above requests are met, then there could be a willingness to expand business and financial markets elsewhere

Now there are 5 billion people plus upon this planet
Acknowledging the immense number of people living on Earth

The place cannot be totally without love can it?
Wondering if it's possible for there to be no love or compassion in such a populous world

The very first time in my life I stood still for a second
Reflecting on a moment when one was able to pause and reflect

I found more pain than I previously reckoned
Realizing that there was more hurt and suffering present than previously thought

And it hurt and it hurt and it hurt like pain does
Feeling the intense discomfort and agony of emotional or physical pain

And I discovered that's OK because
Coming to the realization that it's normal and acceptable to feel pain

There was a very good reason for the pain to be there
Recognizing that there may be a purpose or lesson to learn from experiencing pain

Pain is a way of reminding us we care!
Acknowledging that emotional or physical pain can be a sign of a deep connection or concern for someone or something
