In the Mirror
Outcast Youth Lyrics

She hates what she sees in the mirror,
Thinks she's fat but she's really getting thinner,
She don't see, she don't see,
She don't see what's really in the mirror
She hates what she sees in the mirror,
Thinks she's fat but she's really getting thinner,
She don't see, she don't see,
She don't see what's really in the mirror
She hates what she sees in the mirror,
Thinks she's fat but she's really getting thinner,
She don't see, she don't see,
She don't see what's really in the mirror

Yo,
Her heart beats louder than my drum tracks,
Her smile always calling me to come back,
She's lovely and I want her to know,
I don't pay no attention to the girls in the videos,
And all that she's been taught is a lie,
Told that her beauty is defined by her dress size,
I despise the world that made her cry,
Made her believe that she could never fly,
I hope, I can, show you the real world,
Don't want a Barbie doll, am looking for a real girl,
A woman, who can hold me close,
Who will listen to my dreams and inspire my hopes,
I chose you, and I want you to see,
Your happiness is all that really matters to me,
So breathe, out, and breathe, in,
Let go of your troubles, let your life begin,
Now take me by the hand cause your beautiful darling,
Its time to leave your past cause the futures starting.
You wanna change but I know you're scared,
But trust me I can take you there.

I love it when a beam of light catches her eyes,
Brightens the path and opens up a world inside,
Now Hollywood can easy make your teeth look white,
Give you them fake veneers but they don't look right!
I'd much prefer the real you, tho you're in denial,
The truth is I'm already in love with your smile,
we all get insecure, now and again,
Even us boys see a world full of muscular men,
Fake pecs, shaved chests and an airbrushed reality,
Sun beds, take your steds, poster boy insanity,
I'm a real man I just wanna have a family,
Wanna feel loved, wanna live my life happily,
Although we're always being told what's attractive,
Don't believe a word baby girl look past it,
You say you're not pretty but that's what they do to you,
You don't have to change a damn thing cause you're beautiful.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Outcast Youth's "In the Mirror" are a powerful commentary on the destructive effects of society's beauty standards on women's body image. The song depicts a girl who hates what she sees in the mirror and believes that she is fat, despite the fact that she is actually losing weight. The repetition of the line "She don't see, she don't see, she don't see what's really in the mirror" emphasizes the theme of distorted perception that plagues so many women struggling with body image issues. This theme is further explored in the second verse, which describes how women are taught to believe that their beauty is defined by their dress size, and how this message leads to feelings of inadequacy and self-loathing.

The rapper's voice serves as a voice of reason and compassion throughout the song. He reminds the girl that her happiness is all that really matters, and that her beauty is not defined by the unrealistic standards set by the media. He rejects the superficiality of the Barbie-doll image and instead seeks a real woman who can inspire and be inspired by him. He acknowledges that he too is affected by societal pressure to conform to a certain image of masculinity, but ultimately argues that love and authenticity are more important than any superficial ideal.

Taken as a whole, "In the Mirror" is a powerful call to reject the damaging effects of society's unrealistic beauty standards and embrace one's true self. The repetition of the chorus underscores the idea that the struggle for self-acceptance is ongoing, but the rapper's message of compassion and empowerment offers hope for those who struggle.

Definitely a big thank you for this video, definitely uplifting to do your thing :)

Well actually the opposite can happen when you are true to yourself. It's imo basically the thing you might fear being because you think ppl might reject, ignore and dislike you.
If you hide your true self completely you might appear fake and be actually disliked.

Also you might feel that way becaus of feeling entitled to the others making the first move to approach you.

Parasocial relationships (having a concept of a person without personally knowing them) can play serious tricks on you.

But yeah that episode is total nightmare fuel imo because we already got that dystopia developing. I mean yo you got ppl like garyvee who celebrate that they get stonks from being real, but what if you simply got things you're uncomfortable sharing which aren't criminal at all?

Also the "outcasts" of yesterday might get respected for what they build themselves somewhere else. The people of silicon valley? Most likely got bullied for being nerds and now run the show .

Daniel - stop surviving START LIVING / Just relax

Sincerely accepting the following sentence with my heart changed my life:

“You can be happy, regardless of whatever.”

I was convinced that if I really was okay, I would have a comfortable and happy life under any circumstance.

After establishing this emotional pillar, I felt other people trying to support me. Many people also began to make more time to talk with me.

There were people who said they wanted to start a new project with me, work with me, or simply spend more time with me. Some connected me with opportunities that I had always set my eyes on. This phenomenon was truly amazing, and is unforgettable.

The many things that I was in need of, appeared through various channels in life. I thank those people from the bottom of my heart. I no longer had to dive in and fight the waves to find a beautiful seashell. The seashell found its way to me surfacing from the ocean.

Question Everything But WHY

“Be more concerned with your character than with your reputation. Your character is what you really are while your reputation is merely what others think you are.”

Nobody Notme

Being of good character requires no witnesses.

Outstanding on point quote. 👍👍👍

Pete Mavus

It seems God is my only witness, I try to live with integrity and only God can understand my character maybe.

ᎪƊ

@Nobody Notme It's good to see that somebody in this world think like me.

Nobody Notme

@ᎪƊ I believe people of good character are not uncommon.
They just don't advertise it to the world. That would be in poor character.

Maybe a certain type of wisdom. Trump is an outcast. Think he's wise?
